  1. Reminds me of Professor Stanley Unwin. He says the following: "A wonderful party! The fly did a buzzy-most around the ceily, Little Boy Blue came left his hormones behind, and stuffed his corn there with his trumpey, and brought his melotrophy. Oh dear, knees up Mother Browny, Huckleberry my fimbold, and he freaked them all out with an enormous mind-blast, which was ... oh dear! And thence to the cool of the early mord, they gathered it there and snoozy-most. But stay cool man, stay cool, won't you."
  2. Have you ever had the occasion to kneel in a Church and use the Hussock ( Kneeling Cushion )these are made by people who think of others and their forethought has given me in my capacity of representing my old Regiment at the funeral of a comrade. Look closly at them they commemerate many Regiments, or past Worshipers of that Parish. Many useful things can be peoduced, these are given as a gift, I for one do appreciate them.
  3. As I see it this is just a hobby not a serious contest to see who is the best. Most people have some old material that they dont want to dump but would be happy to see it become something that has been made into an interesting item that cou;d be shown somewhere. If a person has no interest in this why post?
  4. Who said it is cancelled? We can all alter the title IF we think we have the rite, but do you? There are followers that are interested in this project.

  7. I am working on this now. Tote bags The smaller-sized bags are for use with Zimmer frames/walking frames, and the larger size to be used on the back of wheelchairs, for use by elderly in residential homes. An opportunity to put to good use any spare blocks. Bag for use with Zimmer frame Bag: finished size 14" x 14". An ideal opportunity to use up any unused blocks, say 10" or 12", with borders added to make up size. When making up, allow up to 1/2" seam allowance for strength. This can always be trimmed down slightly after stitching if necessary to reduce any bulk. (The finished bag will consist of outer fabric, wadding, lining.) Straps: These need to be finished length of about 18" each (4 straps) x 1/2 " wide, so cut 20" strips x 2" wide (fold raw edge in on one end per strip, then fold sides to middle (1" wide) then in half (1/2") for strength, topstitch all round close to edge). Attach each strap either side of side seam on bag, before lining is added, secure with a couple of rows of stitching for strength. Topstitch round top of finished bag for extra stability and strength for straps. Large tote bag - for use with wheelchairs in residential homes. Bag: finished size 15" x 15" + 2" added gusset OR 17" x 17" with 2" seam across corner, to give gusset. Add seam allowance. Make the gusset in either one long strip (45" x 2" plus seam allowances) or in three sections (15" x 2" + s.a.) Again, ready made blocks can be used, made up to size with added borders. Cut scant 17" x 2" strip of stiffener to go in bottom of bag, secure to seams with a few tack stitches before lining is added. Straps: make exactly as for the Zimmer tote bags (the same size) and attach in the same way. 15. I saw the Crystal Palace burned down in 1936 the High Level station closed as there is also the Crystal Palace Low Level Station a short distance away to serve the passengers there was no need for two stations as the attraction of the Palace had gone. The att.picture shows the passageway from the station under the road to the Crystal Palace.

  20. I aint seen none of these fly over lately I remember the one that came dowm 67 years ago anniversary in a months time SE22 Dulwich/Camberwell V1 East Dulwich Lordship lane by Shawbury Road 23 killed 05/08/1944 16:45 This was a very serious V1 incident, one of the worst in South London. The V1 hit the co-op store at the corner of Northross Road in Lordship Lane. The Co-op and 6 other shops were demolished and 20 houses damaged in Lordship land and 40 in Shawbury Road. A Salvation army hall was also damaged. It is stated in ARP reports held in the public records office that damage extended across a 700 yard radius, greater than the normal blast area. This is probably due to the fact that later V1's were packed with a heavier, more deadly warhead. It was also reported that Anderson shelters in the area stood up well to the blast. Bulldozers were called in to clear the debris and one tram track was cleared by 20.30 of the same day. The whole block where the Coop stood has been re-developed with post war shops. The opposite side of Lordship Lane also shows significant signs of re-building as do houses up Shawbury Road
  21. A galvanised Dust Bin that you could put dust and fire ash in. Can you put Wheelies in a Wheelie Bin?
  22. The Horse Drinking Trough outside the E.Dulwich Hotel, The Trams would pass that spot in three directions there ia a Roundabout there now.
  23. I came through this door that did not close on its own again, I thought I had better close it, as its now starting to rain. My hands gripping my Zimmer frame, so shoved with my behind, I got quite a shock here, that I had not expected to find. As far as I knew the raised thumb, was a sign of wanting a lift, This contact with it certainly made me immediately shift. Is it just me or do others also find this so fickle, four fingers giving that unexpected involuntary tickle. Needless to say my cup of tea never reached the Caf? outside table, I had to sit down to recover, I could not stand up I was quite unable. I observed the door handle from my seated place nearby, Some of the actions of people made me understand why. That very old lady peering through the glass pane above in the door, Her face pressed against, came away she seemed smiling for sure. She must have said something to the other woman, who took a look quick, She got all exited and forgot she needed to use her walking stick. I said to the owner that hand is certainly making a talking point, Yes he said draws a lots of Customers to this eating joint. What was there before you put on the hand to do the job, Oh that it got so worn away. It was a very large Nob.
  24. Can you open the door for me?
