Umming and aahing. This government *must* be taken out of power. Can't bring myself to mandate the Tories however, just can't. People will vote with their pockets and will blame Brown for the recession (not entirely without justification) and the Tories will get in without my vote.

Many sites don't like people deep linking to their photographs as it can increase bandwidth depending upon the popularity of the (linking) site. I'm sure the EDF won't do any harm, but something like Digg or Slashdot can cause sites to go down (see slashdot effect). Hence some sites automatically deal with deeplinks by changing the names of files, replacing them with very small placeholders (blue question mark perhaps, more commonly 1 pixel gif) or even removing them completely, thus disappearing images here. Not alot you can do, though one tactic is to put said photo on something like flickr and use flickr to host it. Or save image as.., upload it to forum and do the linking to your attachment technique. I'm really not seeing a lot about it, most of the returns on google seem to be from 2005. Apparently a few have found an issue between 3.0.7 and firebug, but the few complaints I've dug up are people running on linux distros, so who cares frankly ;-)

I'd say that iPod touch and iPhone seems like technological tautology. Keep your touch and get something small and light would be my advice. They are funky though.

Im curious as to what you think homeopathic treatments actually are DD, and what the principles behind it are. A quick precis perhaps?

I must say I find the success of homeopathy something of a mystery. Most fans of alternative therapies generally like at least a half-decent dose of ancient mystical knowledge about their treatments. Homeopathy is just poorly thought through pseudo science invented by a bit of a loon at a time when our knowledge of chemistry was already good enough to have seen this for the nonsense it is, even if our understanding of particle physics wasn't quite mature enough to prove it. Agree with James about people's right to do so, if they wish to use meat blessed by the hurdy-gurdy mushroom man as a topical treatment, then by all means do, but if billions of pounds is spent on blessed hurdy-gurdy mushroom man meat I can't help but think what a ridiculous waste of resources it is, and if the NHS open a state of the art hurdy-gurdy mushroom man treament centre, I feel I have a pretty good right to complain about it.

I would totally agree with pretty much every word of that MM, with exception to the penultimate paragraph. I'd suggest their opposition isn't so much 'too weak' as that it hasn't come up with a cogent set of alternative policies and are reduced to point scoring. As usual I think the liberals are performing the best here (I didn't say anyone was really running with it, but best of a mediocre bunch) but as usual they will never receive a political mandate to give it a go. We're a pretty unimaginative and conservative (small c!!) electorate when it comes down to it.

I was reading the news this morning and was stunned & chilled to read "[The Real IRA] branded the pizza deliverymen as British "collaborators"" And was reminded of Huguenot's post: "It reminds me of spokespeople for the IRA who couldn't start a justification for the massacre of innocents without the words "The British government...". After a while they just sound insane." True words indeed. I mean they were pizza delivery boys for goodness sake, one of them was even Polish, just taking advantage of the freedom of movement of labour of the European Union to earn a living wage for him and his family. I mean how does that work?! Does the RIRA suggest withdrawal from the EU post unification?!

Although I love Firefox I find it more memory intensive than IE on the whole, and blows up more often, but then I suppose I have more extensions than most, some of which, like firebug, get under the covers somewhat. I've found Google Chrome the quickest and lightest so far, but it's still in Beta form.

I'm no fan of the Tories, but the Major sleaze was mostly of the Secretary shagging sort coupled with a misguided sense of arrogance and invulnerability. Labour sleaze, almost from day one with the Ecclestone F1 bribe has been much more insidious and much more corrupt. They've single handedly dragged Britain a few slots down in the world corruption index. Scum, utter scum the lot of them.
