Are there only about 6 EDFers at work today?
mockney piers replied to mockney piers's topic in The Lounge
Of course, you're right there Moos, always get those two confused for some reason. I enjoyed about half of Homicide, and then just ran out of steam. It's very good as you'd expect from David Simon, it's just after a while i just stopped caring really. -

Less an issue with the debugger and more the dangers of not paying attention when hitting tab on the intellisense. ie i had a BuyerAjaXGridApplet.BaseAjaxGridConfiguration instead of a BuyerAjaXGridApplet.BuyerAjaxGridConfiguration stupid obvious error that slow slow brain failed to spot. Oh and no choice macroban, thanks to this company's behemothic 'framework' you have to inherit if you want to achieve anything, as core code is locked away from the likes of me, contains far too much embedded logic and you have to override or extend if you want to do anything vaguely different from the (not especially useful) out-of-the-box functionality. Grrrrrr, -

cheeky muchkin!! I'll have you know I'm embarking on Don DeLillo's Underworld, that I bought for my step bro, only for him to pull a well thumbed copy out of his bag on crimbo eve and enthuse about it. Doh! (I replaced it with my own well thumbed copy of Elmore Leonard's The Cold Six Thousand after he opened his present and laughed). I'd love to be sitting here doing not much, but sadly deadlines don't care about holidays nor hangovers. Have just spent a whole morning trying to work out why the base class method is being fired only to see that my derived class was referring to the base class method explicitly...double Doh!! Clearly brain will take some time to reengage. So come on you happy people, cheer me up :) -

There were only about 3 people on my Victoria train this morning. Is the spirit crushing silence on here today down to the fact that everyone's at home nursing their broken body clocks, or is it because people are at work with heavy lids and leaden fingers? -
Here's an interesting little web game, move the directional circles to deflect the particles of music, to fill up the little refrain boxes and finish the tune. It'll make sense when you play it. http://www.playauditorium.com/

I gathered that some recent audits have unearthed some irregularities in SU's finances and as a consequence McCabe has become a little less demanding and West Ham, obviously keen for a quick settlement to boost their sale prospects, might push for an out of court settlement sooner rather than later. Figures abound in this but there's talk of 10-15 million satisfying both parties if it's finished quickly. That may be wishful thinking on some WH bloggers' parts though.

I'm rather hoping that if a recession and financial troubles in general bring a new appreciation of the value of money and savingt o us all, then maybe the new spirit of prudence might filter through to the world of football. Really not holding my rbeath on this one; mind you, with advertising revenues plummeting across the industry, don't expect sky/setanta et al to be immune to this, and ultimately with lower revenues from that, money will start dropping out of the game. Could be those 60k a week salaries will be a thing of the past to all but the genuinely world class players.

Aye. Been living with this speculation for a while now. Rumours abound, but there seem to be several sniffs of genuine interest who know that the closer we get to administration the lower the price, also keeping a watch on relegation possibility (anybody's guess frankly, but it at least looks as if Zola has a chance of holding on to key players with a sale of fringe players like Calum Davenport looking certain) as that too will affect the price. Expect a flurry of activity sometime soon.

part of recent poll on WHTID: "Who would you most like to see destitute under Waterloo Bridge, begging for a cup of tea? Kevin McCabe 64% Neil Warnock 16% Frank Lampard 15% Paul Ince 4%" The question made me chuckle, but as it was a bit of a leading question/list, and there was no 'none' option, the result is hardly surprising, and reflects the author's mind rather than your average reader if you ask me. Still made me laugh though (sorry Simon, not flaming you, honest).

cheers for the invite, bur my body is spent. I shall be at home tonight, shivering under a duvet with a case of the fear.

Agree with you Moos, they are full of indignant anger and fizz with ideas, it's just that there's something peculiar to children's literature, I guess necessary to engage with young minds, a certain pacing and tone, that just leaves me cold. China Mieville and Neil Gaiman have both written children's books, and love their normal stuff dearly as I do, those books are just a mystery to me.

any pubs/bars in ED that are not ticket only on NYE?
mockney piers replied to nicko's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The George Canning is also ticket free, I shall be indulging myself there shortly, but will be safely tucked up at home long before midnight. -

Yeah, definitely a lot of "it wasn't me guv honest", but no less interesting as you say. This one made me chuckle and it wasn't all savage

Lots of interesting reading here, sound bites from loads of people in and around the white house over the last 8 years. http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/features/2009/02/bush-oral-history200902?printable=true¤tPage=all

I put HDM in there with Harry Potter. Though admittedly he's given it some real thought and written it all with some big ideas in there, it still doesn't really engage on an adult level. In other words "Boring load of w**k", can't really put it better myself.

well well well, it would appear that you share a birthday with my first nephew as of about 20 minutes ago. Huzzah, that's 3 excuses to open some fizz tonight!!

Burglars Code Information

It's pretty terrifying I'll grant you -
Here you go Loz, everything you ever wanted to know, sorry but it's true

It may have floated there on mats of vegetation, perhaps after the New Orleans flood, it's possible, no really.

Sir Chris Hoy? Really? I had a really good ghost poo this morning, I reckon that's worth a knighthood too.

Big big hugs MP!!!

oh and welcome to the forum ;-)

loving the mature attitude there olded. You are so shocked by others opinions about a defunct bar that you have to leave the area, stamping your feet all the while saying "I hate you, it's so unfair". It's all strangely familiar..... ....
