  1. Actually fair enough, Mrs mockney got all does my bum look big in this when getting ready, causing me to miss first 20 minutes. Took her about 6 hours to apologise. Bums should not get in the way of footie!! ... so to speak. They all seemed to be down the EDT; it's normally just me and the weathered looking bloke, so no idea where all the others came from.
  2. I don't know that laughing is quite the word. We comfortably controlled first half and just disappeared for all but the last 7 or 8 minutes of the second half. When he won the penalty a the last gasp it was a case of "thrown away three points again!!". Mediocre penalty and great save gave rise to a few flicked birds and the EDT filled with noise of f.o.defoe.y.c. Relief at a point saved at the end frankly. Wasn't a pretty game to watch but it was sure as hell an exciting one!
  3. "Last time out at the Ritzy I saw Closer which was an excellent black & white portrayal of the doomed Ian Curtis." That's on my list of things to see as it goes. I don't think the missus would go for it though, so may have to go alone. She was mesmerised by This is England though, just don't think a music biopic would work there.
  4. I figured we've the two music threads, at least two footie ones, a gaming thread, but so far no film one. Soo, thought I'd kick it off after having seen This Is England last night. Gripping, powerful, understated and brilliantly acted, this is by Shane Meadows who gave us Dead Man's Shoes which isn't for the faint hearted but well well worth a watch. Anyone seen it, or anything good of late?
  5. I know it's supposed to be satire, but not sure I can tell if this is or not http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=553&Itemid=26
  6. Welcome to the forum Shaila. I'd be interested in reading something like that. Far far too lazy to go about writing it though :(
  7. Pink Floyd, Wembley Stadium, 1988 I think. First biggy anyway. Mind you, same year I went to greenwich (town hall?) to see Jan Garbarek play, which was actually much much cooler!
  8. Count yourself lucky Dulwich. Prior to Barry Hayles and Lewis Hamilton, Stevenage had only produced...
  9. MP you star! I love that album!!! more prog... http://www.progreviews.com/reviews/images/Yes-Frag.jpg
  10. Me too BM, I seem to recall LozzyLoz liked it too, that must make it the forum's favourite choon so far!!
  11. MP, another rateyourmusic picture I notice, and it's gone...let me know what it is and i'll sort it.
  12. ha ha ha! 'Dot Cotton have more chance to score goals'.
  13. Mejor?
  14. WElcome to the area I hope cahps. Keep an eye out here for rentals http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/list.php?22 I know how you feel about the area, I'd gone from pillar to post all around london for 7 years when I ifnally found it (well, huguenot did, an old forumite) and I knew straight away!! Enjoy.
  15. Newcastle fans are pretty much my favourite, love the town as well. But I reckon there a quite a few stripey shirts at the botoms of drawers of 'supporters' during their own brief heyday ;) And yes, I think Jah does the statuesque intertoto a disservice, it's the greatest european trophy there is!!!! west ham utd, intertoto champions 1999 * edited draws to drawers, shorts in pants is another thread I believe *
  16. Whilst I have similar opinions of fairwaether/glory hunting fans, Chelsea were even more risible that arsenal for aeons, and many of their fans are of the thick and thin type, You can't have it both ways Either you are supporter of a big three team that are all 'glory hunting tossers' or even man u and chelsea fans have thousands of genuine fans. For the record I've supported west ham even outside the glory days *ahem*
  17. strange a couple of mine have dissappeared, as did asset's and keef's. Maybe the high profile ones simply can't be dropped, but they're not really going to care about an out of print single and whatever the disturbing, freakish hell was that asset posted ;)
  18. Oh my god, poor Kate and Jude, no wonder he looked a little stressed last we met. Poor dears. What can we do, a petition to celestial or something. My thoughts are definitely with you guys. I'm afraid I can't join in the Celestial boycott as I guess strictly speaking you need to have set foot in there at least once previously for it to be a boycott.
  19. That, MP, is quite astounding. Btw albumen and women (that joke never gets old) rateyourmusic may often appear first in google images, but as soon as we deep link to them they pull the image and it looks suddenly like we can't do the image linking thing. So use the next image in future.
  20. I think I actually saw Barry with the ball more than any other player. It's just I think I saw him wasting said ball or giving it to the opposition more than any other player, with possible exception of gerrard. I thought it was Lamps who was fairly anonymous in the game, so much for standing up and being counted. Agree re Lescott, but talk about being dumped in it and the rest of his team letting him down. It's easier to defend when you have a midfield.
  21. nice one Brendan. especially for comments section unearthing this appropirate gem
  22. "If a man doesn't understand that losing one's hair can be done with some style and dignity there's no way he's smart enough for managing that football team. " That's about the best insight into England's woes I've read anywhere!!
  23. The Missus (management consultant) couldn't understand why Word was flagging 'costings' as a spelling error. I was unable to persuade her that it's not a word, that the old fashioned 'cost' will work perfectly well thank you even if it is shorter. She doesn't even charge by the word nor nuffink! Sadly she's not alone. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4707608.stm I've no issue with language evolving, I just wish we could ban management and financial types from doing it so badly.
  24. You're in rhyming heaven When you're west of the Severn
