  1. I did have a bit of a gripe about this after their reopening weekend. I hope you let them know what you thought, we certainly did. I agree, if they were charging ?6.50 a dish it'd be what you expect, at those prices they've a lot of room for improvement.
  2. From the description I'm guessing this is The Moulin. See here among many other discussions http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,13969
  3. Actually this is a great book if anyone's genuinely interested in the history of pubs and boozing in this country. From the local church, through coaching inns via the gin houses and victorian/edwardian pubs, through to today's gastro world; the lot of it is in there. Beer and Britannnia - An inebriated history of Great Britain Appropriately I lost my copy in a pub else I'd be happy to lend it out.
  4. ..... hang on .... more irony, definitely getting the hang of this now.
  5. Oh Alan. Self referential humour is self-indulgent but fun. So Cleethorpes has become a bywword for outside London...is that so bad? lighten up a little ;)
  6. To echo Sean in one of the other overlapping complaint threads, it's not East Dulwich that's changed, it's the whole bloomin' country. For ED read Letchworth, Brighton, Beverly; I bet you even Cleethorpes has coffee shops and maybe even a Tex Mex these days. If louisa wants traditional victorian values I believe children in indentured work, polio and cholera is still quite popular in India.
  7. Yes I think I just about spotted the tags that time.
  8. Ha brilliant, glad they enjoyed the Seepy Tea, twas a good night. Good work Mr Road ;)
  9. Was forced to watch it up town. Still, nice fight back on the second match.
  10. what time for the hurling? Have saome lads over from the emerald isle with me.
  11. * finally stumbles in assuring everyone they were making far more sense than he *
  12. LOL, brilliant. Thank god estate agents don't run countries. New properties in the Sudetenland in South East Germany.... To answer the question, it's a nice enough slice of suburban London. Transport links are good but not great (train very 10ish minutes, 11 minutes to london bridge, a smattreing of bus services). In fact think East Dulwich about 8 or 9 years ago. up and coming? money is preading eastward to Honor Oak and Nunhead, Ladywell etc because prices are so ludicrous westward. clapham to balham to brixton to east dulwich and so on. I haven't managed the wrong ttrain from London Bridge for a few months now so I haven't seen if the high street is improving (or getting worse depending on your point of view). Anyone know why it's spelt in the american fashion?
  13. Wow, was that only november? Feels like a lifetime ago already. It's amazing how much water has passed under the bridge since then, how many of us know each other now and how much has come out of the forum, drinks, photos, friendships, fairs, chilli sauce! Last night was a classic when mark randonly pulled up to the photo meet on his scooter in the middle of clerkenwell and said a quick hello and toodlepip. It ended up a bit of a late one then cabs down to the CPT in the end.
  14. Tom did apologise. Ho hum, fame and fortune will just have to wait ;)
  15. Well it does rather look like the business has ben kept within the family, so the change of hands was probably done to absolve the company of liaibility. If they'd held the hands up in the first place and done the right thing by this woman instead of forcing her at great expense to trawl through the courts there wouldn't be a thread in the first place would there.
  16. By special request she remains a mystery. She has been known to turn up to forum events though, so you could even say hello.
  17. No, that was Tom Parnell rfom the South London Press. Nice guy as it goes. I merely took a couple of snaps that they were nice enough to use.
  18. I think he's in Singapore, bt I'm sure he'll log on with good advice once he's settled. Sounds like this lady is doing all the right things, just total criminal behaviour from these people, especially the excuse about the premises changing hands. Not that that did west ham any good.
  19. May I second (or third or fourth) Jo for the parapetness, good on you. For myself, i'll be going through a catholic wedding (for the missus) but my children won't be baptised, christened or indoctrinated. When they make up their own minds i'm sure they will. I'll do my best not to influence them one way or the other, just encourage them to follow their hearts and minds. and yes ant, ceremony is very important regardless of belief.
  20. * supresses urge to take a peek over citizens shoulder at quiet room sketches * * hopes he puts them up on a wall one day *
  21. Hmm, it's back, the act of searching for it seems to have made it miraculously reappear. How odd!! http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,21403
  22. It does rather. I REALLY REALLY hope that wasn't me. I don't think it was but I may have done it accidentally. A million apologies if it was and once again, fingers crossed for Archie.
  23. err...bathe what Jah Lush?
