  1. Small parts of it are okay but on the whole i think it's a cesspit and platform for absolute nobodies that you'd avoid at all costs in real life.
  2. Bro- Hey bro. Really grinds my gears. Legend- Ledge. I took in a small parcel for neighbour only for the postman to inform me that i was a ' ledge bro ' Stop ir, stop it now 😁
  3. Refurb/ refit. It's supposed to reopen 15th October.
  4. Can't agree with that one. I think i might have whooshed myself 😀
  5. Always think of the Grove cafe and Maria and her husband Dimitri when i see pics of that stretch. Sadly missed and probably the last greasy spoon to grace that bit. Another faller from the affects of road closures and CPZ's.
  6. Hopefully and as soon as possible 😁I love the nostalgia chats but i always end up wracking my brain for names and dates.
  7. The railway tavern? I think it was originally named The old Cherry tree hotel.
  8. Good lord above. Awful stuff. When poundland opened up 😁 Brioche buns and Latte cups bouncing off of their windows and whizzing up and down Lordship lane. At one point the CO OP was relieved of two bottles of Prosecco by an absolute bounder armed with a sourdough baton.
  9. I used to DJ Dogstar well as the 414 and Mass. Brixton was always a place for both locals and revellers from all corners of London. Or wobble out of Samsara at the fridge and wobble over to the 414/ Cooltan for another bounce about.
  10. Gentrification affects people in different ways and can be both positive and negative. Criticism works both ways too. Brixton for example- Newcomers move into certain parts where there's a thriving night time economy, a few bars and long standing clubs. Literally move in/ or buy to let at extortionate rates opposite a nightclub that was included in the the estate agents blurb. Vibrant-cool Peckham, Brixton etc. Two places that many of it's current residents wouldn't have drove through in an armoured truck not that long ago. They then complain about the noise coming from those bars and clubs. More often than not those venues end up having restrictions put on them which are prohibitive and ultimately the death knell for a long standing business that has done it's bit in attracting punters with disposable cash to the area.
  11. But more fliers and small parcels/ packages which takes longer to offload.
  12. Here's me thinking it was because of the posh street name and exclusive location 😁 Seriously, you may have a point. We always seem to have a small PO van parked up here of a morning and for an hour or two sometimes whilst the postie do their rounds. We used to have a regular bloke for quite a while but not for the last month now. It can be one of two others that seem to chop and change. Next time i get a chance i will ask one of them what their new routine is. I do think that they're actually delivering more small packages and fliers etc than they are actual letters. So much of what was regular post is now doable online. Rent statements, utility bills etc. Actually thinking about it i can't remember the last time i received a paper bill or invoice.
  13. No problems here at the Gardens. We see the postman everyday bar bank holiday and Sunday's.
  14. I entered my predictions then changed one but mustn't have pressed enter because i have no points for the weekend gone 🙃
  15. Only just noticed this thread. Have joined.
  16. After you,,,,,,,,, The subject and discussion is based on a crime and how it is or isn't being investigated. That will open other avenues of thought and debate but is still relevant to the topic.
  17. Not necessarily. The types of crimes may and do change. Coldharbour lane for instance had one stretch of it back in the 90's that was an open crack market. That has gone and now it's full of late night bars the crime levels are still quite high but not drug related. More violence and anti social stuff but crime all the same. Football is another one. There's much less toe to toe violence to the extent it's quite rare but the arrests for drug possession ( bugle) have soared. As has the numbers for hate chanting / racial/ homophobic chanting.
  18. I'm not and yes i know they are. I'm also aware of that. I mentioned the carnival in my post
  19. Resources/ prioritising? Most of London's OB will be over in west London for a few days. Also if he's not known to them where do they look? How much manpower can they afford looking for a thick racist that's put up some unsavoury graffiti? It's hard enough getting them to come out when you've been burgled. That's quite an assumption. You are assuming those that know him are aware of what he's done. I wouldn't have known about his antics if i didn't use this forum. I'm a long term resident, get about the manor on a regular basis but don't recognise the geezer. Nor has anyone else on here.
  20. Blimey. They look tougher to call than last weeks.
  21. It's a great job apart from the time one finishes It was much easier when i was in my 20's/30's. Still fun all the same.
  22. Yes. What genre of music?
  23. You said-- you just know this will be spun as overwhelming support for Southwark's car/street plans-- I don't just know. It never crossed my mind until you made the assertion. Organisers' responsibilities a formal risk assessment is not required, but you should think about what could go wrong and plan accordingly; major things to consider are: fire, bad weather, electricity and vehicles entering, leaving and remaining within the area of your road closure to close the road, barriers will be provided by FM Conway (subject to availability) during the week before the party organisers are responsible for putting these into place to close the road at the agreed time a clear route, at least 4 metres wide, must remain along the entire length of the road closure for emergency vehicle access
