  1. Hmmm, yes I had the drip in two of my labours (12 hours worth of the stuff in my most recent one!) but didn't need an epidural, managing with just a TENS machine. Midwife did doubt whether I have nerve endings though, so I think I'm an anomaly :) Agree with Monkey, induction is definitely not failing. Enjoy what could be your last child-free night (as much as you can while cooped up in hospital).
  2. Excellent stuff Uptime - give me a shout if you need any help! I had a yummy Thai takeaway and wine last night, dug into my weekly points and really enjoyed it. Went for an hour long walk yesterday (with a rather hungover companion... How's the head today Pebbles?!), and took grumpy baby out for a 40 min walk/jog late this afternoon so that she would sleep. Hope everyone has a good week.
  3. ... Livin' on a Prayer, Bon Jovi (for obligatory fist pump dancing later in the evening). Hubby wanted me to include "Smack my bi**h up" on our cd for using when the band took a break, I wasn't sure the wrinklies would see the funny side.
  4. Our band (in NZ) ended up playing it many times over the evening with a selection of drunk Scottish vocalists taking the stage :)
  5. Oh Hollie, don't worry! I've had three inductions, although all at 37 weeks due to complications. Based on my most recent experience (13 weeks ago) they will insert a Propess this evening (painless, although they will check to see how favourable your cervix is first) and let it work away while you rest. Or you may find they check you and are able to break your waters and bypass the Propess stage completely. It's hard to say how long it will take - my middle child was 8 hours from setting foot in hospital to having her, whereas numbers 1 and 3 were stubborn little blighters and I ended up in Hotel Kings for days waiting waiting waiting... You're overdue, so I doubt it will take days, but you never know. Best to be prepared, take books/crosswords etc (I took my iPad and used hospital wifi to watch lots of on demand tv!) Just try and stay relaxed and positive, and be excited that it won't be long until you meet your baby! Good luck!
  6. Floor fillers at our wedding later on in the evening were Proclaimers and Europe's Final Countdown :)
  7. I'm looking forward to going tomorrow for a look, we've been peeking through the fence for weeks and it looks great! A welcome addition to an already lovely park. Well done to all involved.
  8. I've seen environmental health officers at the food stalls before using temperature probes, so think they are regulated in the same way asnother food establishments. I didn't realise I was living on the edge to such a dramatic extent - have been eating food from the market pretty much every weekend for the 8 years I've lived in the area. And still here to tell the tale :)
  9. I've managed to get baby food through NZ customs, so I think you'll be fine (I think NZ are tougher?). as long as you declare it I doubt there will be a problem.
  10. ... although as someone who has been running for exercise for around 15 years (including a marathon and many half marathons) and breastfed 3 children I don't have saggy boobs, so it's not always the case! Chances are diet alone as well as a bit of walking will snap your body back into shape - you have the benefit of youth!
  11. I've been with Vodafone for 11 years and get a good signal at all times, have never noticed any areas in ED where it cuts out.
  12. No,you can't unfortunately. However if you join at a meeting and sign up for e-source you get all the online stuff plus the ability to weigh at a meeting.
  13. It's not your standard cattery - she only takes a few cats and is a true cat lover. Our cat came home with a goodie bag containing his favourite treats last time... Cooked chicken and prawns! I don't think he wanted to come home :)
  14. I would book them into a cattery for a few days so you can get yourselves sorted without having to worry. Locally there's a brilliant private cattery (very small, in a house) run by Gloria, who has looked after our cat a number of times. She treats them like part of her family and our normally shy cat loves her. I don't have my phone to hand, but a search should bring up her number.
  15. Still just over a stone to go, there's a whole lot of clothes in my wardrobe that don't fit. My skinny jeans laugh at me if I even glance in their direction :)
  16. 1.5 more gone today, and three more pairs of pre-pregnancy jeans that fit :)
  17. We didn't have kids at the evening part of our wedding. We were more than happy for them to be at the ceremony but not at the reception. The children who had travelled with their parents to be at the wedding (in NZ) were catered for by way of a babysitter that we arranged and paid for, and their parents were more than happy with it as it meant they could relax and have a grown up evening. Older kids at the evening part of a wedding dont bother me, but I can think of nothing worse than overtired toddlers running round at 11pm being exposed to adults who have been on the bubbles all day! Tiny babies, sure, different situation altogether.
  18. Definitely take a pram, but not the Cameleon... nightmare to collapse and reassemble and you'll have your hands full! We've always used a Maclaren to travel as you can unfold with one hand. Do the trip in one go, it's fine. Have been to NZ by myself with kids at various ages and it's fine. Did it with son at 9 months, no bother at all. Sorry for short reply, one handed while feeding - do a search as I will have given advise on this before. Sorry to hear of sad circumstances for the trip :(
  19. Yes, me too. I have a small business making handknitted and crocheted baby clothing. I'm on Facebook, "Handcrafted by Pippa". I've previously sold on stalls in the area but these days focus on making to order which, combined with looking after 3 kids, keeps me well and truly busy. I love crafting of all types.
  20. My condolences to you and your family Karen - your Dad was a lovely man who I enjoyed chatting to when I was out and about. Thanks for letting us know x
  21. Fantastic!! At least you counted, many people would have given in completely. Well done, enjoy the exercise (lovely morning for it, I'm going to take my lot out on scooters and encourage them to race so that I have to walk fast to keep up!)
  22. Hi nabz My baby was born in Jan, and like you I am determined to get back to my old size! I'm also breastfeeding, and am using a combination of diet and exercise to lose the weight. I go to Weightwatchers (have lost 10lbs so far and ideally want to lose another stone). My main exercise is walking, which I do with my baby, and it really helps. I've just started jogging again too, once again with the baby in her pram. If you want something more structured, Liz Stuart runs great powerpramming classes which I went to after I had #2. Once again you take baby with you, so no need to worry about her needing fed as you can do it while you're there. P x
  23. I hope you're settling in well. The thought of no shops nearby scares me!
  24. Meatballs, cheese sauce, tomato/vege pasta sauce, individual sized pies (cook the filling, put a raw pastry lid on top and freeze). I also freeze portions of stew.
  25. Surely it's normal to just use one blended version of all the children's names when addressing them, whether individually or collectively? My older two respond to "Camilly" :)
