Has anyone been on the Eurostar with baby and pram?
Pickle replied to Strawbs's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We've got a Maclaren Techno Thst you're welcome to borrow for the trip if you wish? It's been our trusty travel buggy for 5 years so is a little tired but still in full working condition. Let me know. P x -
Oven Pride comes with a bag, works brilliantly!

How are you all doing? My pedometer has kept me motivated, and it's amazing how far I walk in a day if I make an effort - In excess of 7 miles yesterday! I went to the free post natal fitness session this morning which was good fun. It's very gentle, but a nice introduction back to exercise and free. Hubby met me afterwards with the remaining children (I took baby with me in the pram), I did some more walking, and feel great because of it. I find it all too easy to be a complete sloth in the weekends! At least now I feel I've earned my takeaway and wine this evening!

Definitely go for the local one - we had to do ours in Brixton, and the people on it were from different areas. It meant that we didn't really keep in touch as meet ups were difficult.

1lb off for me this week, so 6lbs in total since I started 3 weeks ago, hooray! I bought myself a WW pedometer this morning, I used to have one years ago. Amazing how motivating it is, as it counts down how many steps to go before you've done the recommended healthy number, after which point you start earning bonus points. Instead of coming straight home I stayed out walking for 40 mins :) Hope everyone else is having a good week x

Advice on posterior tounge tie Please
Pickle replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I remember that feeling of relief so well when I got the same diagnosis 5 years ago for my son. Katie Fisher will do a consultation and the snip privately, it costs around ?90 and she does it at her home in Croydon. If you search her name on the forum you should find her contact details. I looked into seeing her with my new baby and having rung on a Wed was offered an appointment just a couple of days later. Good luck, and keep us updated with progress. Pippa x -
Best sling for newborn? Please help
Pickle replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
A wrap sling is ideal for this - I use a Hugabub with my 8 week old which is brilliant, she's cosy and falls asleep leaving me hands free to cook dinner etc. -
Ideas for entertaining my 21 month old in the car!!

sedatives? ;-) -
I had a challenging weekend - wedding anniversary Saturday and Mother's Day. However I managed to stay on track - Thai food and bubbly all within points on Sat and I shared my Hotel Chocolate chocs with hubby (who got me a small box as he knows I'm trying to lose weight) and also managed to stay within my allowance. I get 40 points a day due to BFing which does make it easier!

Demand feeding versus fed to schedule:
Pickle replied to sillywoman's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Agree with you Fuschia - and especially this time round it makes me realise I should have cherished the early months with #1 more, as with subsequent children you don't get so much time to sit and enjoy long cuddly feeds. The time passes so quickly too. I very much enjoy the fact that I have a 3 hour "break" in the mornings while my older two are at school, as it's the one time of day that I can sit and concentrate on Kate. She feeds on and off the whole time, which then generally means she will have a nice long sleep at lunchtime giving me time alone with #2. Afternoons are a far less relaxed affair! -
Demand feeding versus fed to schedule:
Pickle replied to sillywoman's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Sillywoman, I'm a routine type Mum, Gina-lite, but feed on demand. For me a routine is more about the sleep patterns rather than the eating ones... And from what I can see (based on observations made when out and about and from what's written on the forum), there comes a point where most babies end up having a sleep at the same time of day anyway! Certainly the realities of life with 3 aged 5 and under mean the feeding this time round is more a case of "I've got 5 minutes now to sit down, I suggest you get sucking" ;-) -
Not strictly family but a head's up...mugging
Pickle replied to jennyh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
So sorry to hear this, it's certainly worth posting as I'm sure many of us (certainly me) wouldn't think twice about using a phone outside in the middle of the afternoon. I hope that you're ok and being looked after this evening. I wonder if there's CCTV around the station that he may have been caught on? Take care, P x -
What do you want for Mother's Day 2012?
Pickle replied to Saffron's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Definitely! I dont make a secret of it either :) not possible this year though due to boob dependent baby. -
Good for you Grotty, really positive steps, you must be feeling good for resisting the ginger nuts! I'm indulging in a Friday night treat, within my points - some carefully weighed out liquorice (my favourite, but previously I would have scoffed the whole bag) and a Crunchie bar. I also took my own advice earlier this morning and drank a bottle of water rather than opening the cupboard, it worked for me too. This weekend will be a chsllenge... Wedding anniversary tomorrow and Mother's Day.

I go to the Wed 9:30am class - generally just to weigh in, although I did stay for the meeting this week. Feels a bit strange as the leader used to be my client, and I used to run the meeting :) a good bunch of people though. If you don't get much time to cook there are lots of nice ready meals that would work, or maybe try planning meals that you can prepare in stages when you get time (which is what I tend to do while juggling the baby and two older kids). For example, I cut up and cooked the apples/onions for tonights dinner earlier this morning, part baked some potatoes in the microwave while i had lunch, so then it was just a case of bunging them in the oven to crisp up and frying the pork just before we ate. When you do get time to cook, make double/triple batches and freeze individual portions so you can quickly reheat when you're pushed for time.

I've been back at WW for a couple of weeks now and loving it (especially all the extra I get for BFing!). I used to be a leader, pre-kids. My advice to people struggling like you are would have been: - vary your breakfasts, it's easy to get stuck in a rut eating the same old stuff, try some new things - buy a new cookbook/magazine and put 10 mins aside to choose some new recipes to try out - identify your "weak" times and do something to distract yourself rather than eating. Ideally go for a walk! - before giving in to snacks, drink a big bottle of water, or (extreme case) set an alarm for 20 mins and don't let yourself eat before it rings. A lot of the time the urge will pass before the time is up. I've enjoyed getting back to healthy eating since I went back, and the whole family are benefitting in terms of different dinners I've tried from my new cookbook. We had pork rolled in sage, then cooked in apple juice with caramelised apples this evening - yum! I've lost 5lbs so far, have around 2st to lose to get me back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Frustratingly I've put most of the weight on since my little girl arrived, as during pregnancy was on a really strict diet to try and control my liver condition. I made up for 8 months of no chocolate or cake in the space of 6 weeks :-$ Maybe we should use this thread to post our weekly losses? I weigh in on Wednesdays. Px

Advice needed - toddler learning
Pickle replied to standswithfist's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oops, not sure what happened there then! On my phone at the moment, but if you just search "jolly Phonics" in You Tube you'll find the videos. The first one is the "a a ants on my arm" one. Hope that helps x -
Brilliant photo. Would you like to sell your house? Your view is amazing!

I've got the Rapley book and have been reading through it as plan to do BLW with #3 (not anytime soon, but I'm aware the months will fly by). It's an excellent book, well worth it.
