  1. We got a leaflet through the letterbox a couple of weeks ago with details of the closure and the new site, but it would have been easy to dismiss it as the usual junk mail! Sorry you had a wasted trip, how frustrating.

    Devil Cat

Assuming your cat flap is used by your own cat, get a microchip one - we had problems with a Tom coming in our house and spraying everywhere. Very simply solved by locking the little b**stard out while our own cat could still get in and out as he pleased.
  3. As others have said, both fab but fulfil quite different requirements. Chameleon is brilliant as an everyday pram for long walks etc and the carrycot is lovely and snug for little babies. I had one for my first child and never regretted it. Downsides are it's a bit bulky when folded and a nuisance to fold as you have to take it apart. Plusses are it's comfort, suspension, sturdiness and excellent resale value. About to have my 3rd baby and have gone for the Bee this time as life will revolve more around school runs and nipping out and about rather than having the luxury of long walks and lazy days! My priority now is to have something small, easy to fold, and easy to store amongst all the scooters/bikes we seem to have accumulated over the last 5 years. We also wanted something that would fit in the boot of the car and leave room for other things. Bugaboo are a great brand, expensive, but worth it in my opinion. I've had other prams along the way, including a double, and always much preferred my bugaboos. Definitely go and have a play at John Lewis or similar, and have a think about what your main usage will be. If I were having my first all over again I would opt for the chameleon again.
  4. This thread has reminded me that I had made an appointment for Dennis to come round last week, and he never showed up! Must try again as it sounds like I've just been unlucky given all the other glowing recommendations.
  5. Just over a week until my induction and I'm starting to question whether it's sensible viewing!
  6. Congrats Anna! Lovely to hear that you're having a good experience in hospital though, that's great. I was up there again today and saw someone I knew with a tiny newborn, made me very excited to think that I'll be meeting mine in less than two weeks!
  7. Seems to be working fine for me Sue, might be your connection?
  8. I agree in part - although by asking them whether there are foods they don't eat (whether it be for medical or purely fussy reasons) surely you then save yourself the need to run an a la carte menu? Personally I would always ask guests in advance and plan the meal round them, and I guess I'd expect the same to be done if I was invited to someone's house for a meal (although I eat anything!).
  9. You've done well getting to 14 months using a Baby Bjorn! I managed about 4 weeks before my back got small, and my son didn't even weigh 8lbs at that stage :) I had a Patapum, which is basically the same as an Ergo but quite a bit cheaper. It can be used front or back too.
  10. I went recently on a weekday early afternoon, having contemplated waiting at Kings where the estimated waiting time was 90 minutes. Was in and out within 10 minutes!
  11. L&P - a NZ soft drink, lovely. They sell it at GBK. Good luck! I've been off booze for 8 months (pregnant) and can't wait for a drink!
  12. It was near the junction with Underhill Road
  13. It was related to a house in Upland Road - apparently one person apprehended (not sure what for) and one got away. There were police everywhere, but all seems quiet now.
  14. It's Thursday for reception and nursery - the school as a whole opens on Wednesday but the early years teachers have an extra training day.
  15. Have you tried pumping the "bad" side while feeding baby from the "good" side? I used to do this (takes a bit of practice to get the juggling act mastered!) and found I got a lot more milk much faster doing it this way.
  16. I've been wearing some from Pretty Pregnant (underwire) which are brilliant. Not using them for feeding yet, but as maternity bras they've been great, really comfortable and give a decent amount of support. The girls at the shop seem to really know their stuff and they have a good range.
  17. Happy New Year ladies - did we end up with any NYE babies? I'm now booked in for an induction so the end is in sight, depending on labour ward space I shpuls be going in around the 13th. Seems like a long time away as I'm still not getting much/any sleep, but it's better than nothing!
  18. I found both Itti Bitti and Blueberries were lovely slim nappies, although in my experience they're better from about 6 months onwards. Generally an all in one type nappy (one that doesn't need a separate waterproof cover) will be less bulky than the more standard two part systems. Good luck - I ended up terribly addicted to buying nappies when I had my daughter!
  19. Agree with snowboarder - if you really want to save money go reusable. You can pick up some bargain priced kits 2nd hand (and 2nd hand ones tend to be better as they're more absorbant)... my house is stocked full ready for my new arrival in a couple of weeks time. In terms of disposables I haven't ever used very many, but found the Sainsbury's own brand ones pretty good value and equally as good as the "big" brands, if not better!
  20. Agree with Sue - if I need an appointment for myself or the kids I ring first thing in the morning and have always been seen the same day. For non urgent appointments I've always found them really accommodating with days/times.
  21. I've got something on order from them and have been impressed with their communication so far. Whatever you do, don't buy from Lullaboo Baby - having waited over two months for a pram we cancelled our order and are yet to get a refund, it's been a stressful nightmare!
  22. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,643843,808857#msg-808857 These recommendations? Perhaps you owe admin an apology?
  23. Merry Christmas to you all, an early start from our excited children and we're about to drive to Buckinghamshire for the day. Hope Father Christmas was kind to the parents as well as children in your houses!
  24. Congratulations Sara and Lindsay! And yes, that would have been me knitting (I know to go prepared for a long wait). What a lovely Xmas present for you both - my younger brother is a Xmas eve baby too. Have a wonderful day today x
  25. Wishing you all a very Merry Xmas. I have been at the MAU this afternoon (cholestasis related concerns, yet again!), for a while was a bit worried that I wasn't going to get home in time to do the last Xmas Eve preparations with the kids, but phew, made it back. Nice to have a fellow winter baby club member to chat to while I was there, and glad all seemed well with her very active and noisy baby while hooked up to the CTG! The labour ward was very very busy, I did wonder whether any of our club are in there giving birth this evening. Looking forward to being able to catch up with you all once my pesky baby makes an appearance. Pippa x
