My wedding and engagement rings are White gold - I get them replated where we got them (NZ, not much use to you). They get plated in rhodium I think, it's not just a case of cleaning them.

House with Granny / Nanny Annexe - For Sale
Pickle replied to Marmora Man's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We got a leaflet through our door advertising what must have been your house - looks fantastic. I left it out so Mr Pickle could see it but he didn't take the hint :) Agree with Catgirl re other forums, and I wouldn't be surprised if leaflet drops around the area like have already been done work... loads of families with au pairs etc who the property would be ideal for. Good luck. -
When I did it Mr Pickle dropped me and my friends at the Blackheath end of Belmont Hill, and it was then just a short walk to the Heath. Could be an option if you're planning on driving anyway? Wish her luck! I loved every minute of it, the atmosphere is amazing.

Ha ha, I read it as can I smack my children, and thought you were a brave lady asking for permission here :)) My daughter has a few smocked dresses... We tomboy them up with long sleeved tops and leggings underneath so that she can get some wear out of them. Go for it!

::o PEBBLES!!! (although fully understand and probably would have done the same!) Make sure you enter both the chocolate and wine into your tracker so you know what you're dealing with. In the scheme of things it won't matter, you'll be fine with a whole week to recover. In a service station chocolate is probably the healthiest option :) Just back from a rehearsal, managed to resist the biscuits at break time and happily have arrived home and realised I have enough points for a Curly Wurly.

It's primary school applications results day!!!

Goodrich for us, but not a surprise as a combination of sibling place and we live very close. Still a relief though! -
Your favourite slow cooker recipes... please!
Pickle replied to Pickle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks Mr Carnell, looks great. -
Grotty, you're tackling the gain straight away so it will be gone as quickly as it went on! Has your week continued to be good? A good result for me this morning, with a 1lb loss, bringing my total to 13. The first number of my weight has changed, always a boost! I'm expecting my losses to slow down a bit now as I get closer to my goal but hopefully the weight will continue to fall. I'm already at the healthy level on my pedometer so hoping to earn a couple of extra points today despite the weather.

Thanks Strawbs. I'm not carb free, love my carbs :) -
Absolutely Susyp. On one flight to NZ I took 24 hours worth of home prepared frozen meals which they heated for me!

Your favourite slow cooker recipes... please!
Pickle replied to Pickle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'd forgotten about that thread! Although not many actual recipe recommendations, so would be grateful for tried and trusted ones. -
I've been trying to decide for months whether to buy a slow cooker, and a friend has kindly lent me hers for a couple of weeks. I'm not particularly inspired by the cookbook that came with it, would love some recommendations for recipes. There are thousands online, but it's hard to know whether they'll be nice! We eat meat, I like to cook one meal that the kids will eat too (nearly 4 and 5 year olds), so not too spicy, but they're quite adventurous (especially if I tell them it's "Buzz Lightyear stew" or "pirate pie"). Ideally not just stew, I'll get bored! Recommendations much appreciated.

Winter babies club (due Dec 2011, Jan/Feb 2012)
Pickle replied to Family Room Moderator's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'm taking my daughter to a Diddi Dance trial this afternoon (the older one... Kate's not quite at the dancing stage yet!), so won't be able to make it. I still power my way round the parks most mornings at 9ish if anyone fancies meeting x -
We've never had any problem getting milk on a flight. Generally I took a full bottle onto the plane with me (taste it going through security) and for the rest of the flight had it provided. That was on trips to and from NZ, so lots of bottles involved!

Early afternoon activity for a 4 year old?
Pickle replied to Pickle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Great, I'll have a look into Diddi Dance, thank you. Emma, we have gymnastics in Beckenham on Mondays, otherwise tennis would have been a great option. -

I went this morning, it's lovely. The carved dragonfly bench is amazing! -
Sadly the lovely music class I've been attending with my nearly 4 year old isn't running this term, and I'd like to find something to replace it if possible. Due to school pickup for my older boy we need something that's finished by 3pm. We do gymnastics once a week, something dance/music related would be ideal (and needs to be suitable for me to sit with littlest Pickle, who is 3 months) Any ideas?

We've got a Bee Plus for our newest arrival (13 weeks) and love it. She's very cosy in the cocoon and the fact it doesn't lie completely flat doesn't matter at all, in fact I think it's better in some respects, having previously had the Cameleon for my eldest child. It's very easy to fold, steers like a dream with one hand and has a very compact turning circle which is great. I use it constantly, for long walks, jogging, and in conjunction with the car seat when we are out in the car. No complaints at all so far.

I'm 37 (eek) and have not once in my life used either blusher or false eyelashes... I wouldn't know where to start! I've never been a big makeup wearer, other than foundation, and I don't wear that very often these days either. Am I missing out? I'm worried that I'd look like a clown if I put blusher on!

You'll know within a day or so. We found that within about a week we had it cracked with our little boy (he was just under 2.5). Chocolate buttons were his incentive... 1 for a wee, 2 for a poo!

With both of my older children we went into pants full time during the day from day 1 of potty training. Nurseries are used to it, so yes, just send lots of clothes and make sure they are aware that they need to keep an eye on him. For out and about, take a potty with you. I kept one under the buggy - the Potette travel potty is excellent as it folds flat and uses little bags which you can then seal and throw away rather than having to find somewhere to empty it. I was surprised at how quickly the initial phase passes - both of my kids (a boy and a girl) very quickly mastered it and we actually ended up having very few accidents. It helps if they are ready, which it sounds as if your little boy is.
