Actually, that is not necessarily a fact. I've been more than tempted to move bins, etc away from saving parking areas when I walk past - I'm sure some people actually do it. So, it might not have been the driver that moved your bin.
  2. The one planned for ED was for two hours a day, weekdays only, Louisa.
  3. Any burglaries near you lately? I suspect they thrive on bad events.

  5. I fought it was because the numbers didn't add up. There was still more cars than spaces, as the effect of the station did not seem to be a large causal factor. The CPZ would also have lessened the total number of spaces and then charged everyone ?90+ a year without fixing the problem. I suspect only St Francis Place and maybe Melbourne Grove would have benefited (being the only ones with a commuter parking issue), but the knock on effects would have effected load of streets as it pushed parking around.
  6. A test: add another photo to the Dropbox folder via your PC. Does it suddenly appear on your smartphone?

    Boiler - help!

Tut tut - I think BVAS/Bob has been found out. I must admit, the posting history was suspicious (3/4 recommending 'Bob'), but I think ianr has nailed him. Naughty, naughty.
  8. Love_London - as I said, we really need to know what you are going to use the machine for - and what sort of budget you have. Are you looking for some sort of specific use, or just standard web browsing/email stuff? Are you currently using Windows? Agreed that Windows 8 still in the difficult early stage at the moment (the Star Trek movie rule is holding firm), but Windows 7 is fast and stable. Windows 7 has touch screen functionality (though Win 8 is more tablet-like), but I usually find my pudgy finger isn't precise enough and I end up suing a mouse anyway.

And the eternally boring plist vs registry fanboi argument is relevant to your standard user how exactly? Personally, I think anyone that recommends Windows/Mac/Linux over whatever other without understanding the needs of the user is not worth listening to. Each has their advantages. Each their disadvantages.

  12. Personally, I think the 'differences' are all fanboy stuff. Stick with what you know the best or can afford.
  13. No, no, maxxi - Clapham.
  14. Just rugby tackle a fat person at the top of Dog Kennel Hill for a similar experience...
  15. I vote for 'Dulwinians'

No, not really, since you seemed to make a bit of an underhand judgement yourself. Aren't you doing the sort of finger pointing you are telling others not to do? Anyway, I don't see an issue with posting the flyer if the personal details (names, addresses, photo) are redacted. Admin's opinion may differ, though.

  18. MoneySavingExpert has a list of 'typo search engines' in which you can find stuff the normal search misses. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/ebay-protection?utm_source=MSE_Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=30-Jul-13&utm_campaign=shopping&utm_content=46#spell

Hang on - blindly accusing the HW's husband (on the basis of zero evidence) is OK, but printing something that has been distributed is not? I don't think you are a lawyer. At least I hope not.

    Pancakes

The kitchen?? They're not hard to make (though the first one is always a disaster unless you have a good teflon pan).
  21. I'm with steveo - the last few seconds are an adrenaline rush. Importantly - make sure your computer time is set correctly. Look up how to do a manual sync with a time server before you start bidding. I usually chuck in a very low early bid just to get things going. Then, like any auction, you need decide what the most you would like to pay. eBay's bidding system means that just because you bid ?20, doesn't mean that's what you pay. If the next lowest bid is, say, ?12 and the next highest allowable bib is ?12.20, then that is what you will pay. So, with a minute or to go, get the page up. With 30 seconds to go enter your maximum bid and press the 'place bid' button. This brings up the confirm bid screen - with five seconds to go, press 'confirm' and cross your fingers.

  23. Good grief - is the 'Downfall' meme still doing the rounds?
  24. You really have an issue with Tories, don't you?
