If you use a pressure washer, then learn from my mistake... don't fire it at a wooden fence. Cleared the paint/woodstain right off where it hit and left me with a second job to do.

Nationwide aren't bad. They used to be much better, though. Gone downhill a little in the last 5 years or so. Depending on what you want, for standard banking stuff I'd recommend either Metrobank or First Direct. Both are really quite good. It's hard to believe FD are the same company as the awful HSBC.

I've heard varying accounts about how effective this is, but it may be worth a try. http://www.streetlink.org.uk/ Good luck. An amazing piece of Christmas spirit.

You won't be covered by the UK deposit guarantee, so if it goes bust you would be reliant on the Swedish government scheme paying out to foreign depositors. And you might remember what the Icelandic government did (or didn't do) when their banks went belly up.

I work in a shop and see quite a few. I am always suspicious of them and give them extra attention to check they are legit. So it's kind of ironic that the only fake we've taken this year (detected by the bank) was a twenty.

Having children is like choosing to be a police officer. Society needs police officers, but it's fortunate that not everyone wants to be one. And people who point out that police officers could maybe, occasionally, behave a little better shouldn't be told to shut up just because they chose not to be a police officer.

I think they're good. And mine are Gouda.

I had to ask my Greek friend to stop buying me so much cheese. I was getting feta and feta.

Cheese goes off so quickly. I had to throw my Stilton out last year - full of mould, it was.

I saw that on Sunday morning. He used the smallest melon baller I've ever seen - it was about 1cm in diameter.

That's part of the deal. The UK don't quite get Lidl and Aldi - you're supposed to chuck everything back in the trolley and pack it on those benches at the front of the store.

- The House of Lords becomes a bit mischievous in regards to Brexit, holding up the process - Trump won't be as bad as people fear he will, but will still be really crap. - Le Pen loses in France, but not by much - Merkel wins in Germany - The Lib Dems win a couple more by-elections and get their MP count into double figures - May technically loses her majority when a couple more Tory MPs resign/defect, but continues to govern. - I won't really notice who wins the premiership (that's less a prediction and more a certainty)

I'm missing the reason as to why this is going to an Irish court??

But surely that could happen anyway - if this is all extra development and given demand is so high, there is no need to push out the smaller players. And I still think severely lowering competition will be bad. It usually is. It looks like the old supermarket story - big player comes in with money, put the small players out and then jacks up the prices. Heygate estate, anyone? Plus there will almost certainly going to be a gap between private landlords getting out if the market and the institutions ramping up all this hoped-for projected investment. What is the turnaround time for a large development? 5 to 10 years? So, I still think rents are going to go upwards as a result of this.

And then you need to consider what the army of lawyers, administrators and international negotiators that we are going to need over the next 10 years to undo/redo everything. ?63m a week will seem a bargain.

LondonMix Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think professionalising the rental sector can only be a good thing and will increase the overall > supply of housing. Not sure how you conclude it will increase the overall supply of housing. But on your other point, at the moment we have a decent amount of competition and those that want to go with a big corps can and those that want to go with the small private player can. Surely concentrating rental property into the hands of a few big corporations can only be a bad thing.

I think you might just be trolling a bit there, bawdy-nan, but I'll reply anyway. Some people like going to the small-scale landlord, as the Property pages on this very site will attest. When it is your only place, you go that extra mile to make sure you have a happy renter. Keeping the good tenants is key. But I'm sure there a good reasons to go with a big, faceless entity as well.

The doc and the dentist are fine with new tech - it's the hospital specialists that seem to be refusing to be dragged into the 21st century.

I keep mine in the big jar for at least 3 months, before straining and bottling. Only just got my berries a couple of weeks ago, so they're still in the freezer!

I've nearly missed appointments because the NHS only send stuff by snail mail, and more than a few have been lost somewhere along the way. Is emailing people as well really too hard?
