8m didn't vote: if you don't like the result PLEASE sign this petition
Loz replied to Lucyalexandra's topic in The Lounge
I don't know why you are trying so hard, Toffee. So, some people tried to hack the petition and failed. The 77k names have been removed. 3,754,091 names still remain. It only needed 100k to get the discussion in parliament. -

Instead that will now be left to his successor, all in all a poisoned chalice. We need a statesman/stateswoman to stand up and say, "we have plunged this country into financial chaos for no good reason. I have gathered together (more than half) of the MPs across all parties and we are putting a motion together to parliament to ignore this referendum result and bring stability back to the markets and the pound." This won't happen.

I know Nick Clegg isn't exactly the toast of the town, but he made some spookily accurate predictions on the eve of the vote... https://inews.co.uk/opinion/comment/will-wake-vote-leave/ Actually, we could do with someone with Clegg's pragmatism right now.

Plunging this country into ruin because of a chocolate-related legal case 13 years ago - which the UK won - seems a bit reactionary, no?

uncleglen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > He could be referring to this > http://www.telegraph.co.uk > (the cannabis addled his brain I daresay) From the article: According to the tape recording, which was posted on the right wing Guido Fawkes? website, Mr Straw said: ?We need to recognise that people have been pulled up short by Jo Cox?s death.? He added: ?It is now time to make a very positive case for why we want to be in the European Union to? set out the risks that we face if we leave, but to call out the other side for what they have done to stir division and resentment in the UK.? Doesn't quite match the accusation, does it?

Sorry, but I am not going to sit idly whilst Boris and co drive this country over a cliff.

This, really, should be Fallon's chance to push the Lib Dems front and centre. Where is he?

Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Does anyone have any actual real upsides, rather than this bollocks about having our country back, > hoovers and English wine... The only one I can honestly see (though hasn't happened yet) is the demise of Corbyn as Labour leader and the possibility of actually having an opposition. But that really isn't enough reward for plunging the entire country into crisis.

Normally, I don't have a lot of time for her, but Nicola Sturgeon is the only "leader" worthy of the title in the country at the moment. Cameron's a lame duck, Corbyn a dead duck and Fallon seems to have completely ducked out if sight. Bunch of complete duckers, the lot of them.

We need to wait until it is shown what has been negotiated, then put that to the people. In/Out doesn't really cover what could happen. In does, but out could mean out out, or a Norwegian-style deal, or something in between. If freedom of movement is part of the deal (which is more than possible), it could be interesting. But it would be good if they would announce that was part of the plan. At least, once they have some clue of what the plan is.

Excellent, so we can have no argument over the remaining 3,425,355 signatures.

They are only international on the basis of trade agreements. Australia used the word 'champagne' quite readily until the EU trade agreement meant they would stop. So, initially at least, the protected status of those products will cease until new trade agreements are in place.

I don't know about bad wine, but British sparkling is quite good as the UK growing areas are roughly on the same latitude as the Champagne region. The region produces quite poor grapes for still wines. All the quality still wines are grown in warmer climes, so really nothing from Britain will ever match the better still wines (climate change notwithstanding).

No one is that stupid. I notice you also skipped over the fact that Farage has admitted the ?350m/week was a lie. -

If you think that is in any way an exit plan, you are very, very wrong. There is a hell of a lot to do in those two years. I would hope a strategy is already in place before triggering Article 50, else things will be even worse than the terrible mess they will be anyway. -
