Lordship 516 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Wouldn't fancy their individual chances of being > re-elected ! I dunno. If they go in with a Remain policy and assuming the Leave side fragments between Tories, UKIP and Labour, FPTP gives them a pretty good chance, especially with four years as opposition. Edited to add: If Corbyn retains the leadership, all the rebels will face deselection. There will be vengeance. As they'll not be part of the next election, the rebels would be best to jump ship.

That would be interesting. The Lib Dems could be the official opposition and Labour a minor party on the cross benches, smaller than the SNP. And the official opposition would then have a policy of remaining in the EU!

Not much happening there for the moment. Once the runners and riders are announced, you can bet everyone will be throwing their tuppence-hapenny worth in.

DaveR Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > There isn't any real doubt about who or what Corbyn is Actually, DaveR - I disagree. I have absolutely no idea what exactly Corbyn believes in. A lot of people project their beliefs onto him, but he says little himself. I haven't heard a peep of policy from him in the last nine months, apart from him wanting politics to be 'nicer'. Oh, and his weird ideas about an unarmed Trident. But little else.

local police referendum key message

I read the hashtag as "west and together" and though it a bit off. Then I read it again. -

That's like a question someone once asked me: why do we get IN a car, but ON a bus? -
Have you seen Corbyn at the dispatch box?? His performances (and I use that word generously) bring to mind Maggie's comment, "like being savaged by a dead sheep". And that was when did have the party, however grudgingly, behind him. The country needs Labour to be something that someone like me (as a centrist) can vote for. That's the only way they will get in power and drag this country back from the precipice. We don't need some ideological hand-wringer.

How can this man lead the country? He can't even lead his own party. All his followers keep saying he is a man of honour - well, now is the time to honourably resign, else he is going to be the epicentre of the biggest split in Labour in its history. This will make 1981 and the Gang of Four look like a minor disagreement. All at a time the country desperately needs a strong opposition. Jezza will never be that person. They need a Ruth Davidson, but sadly she's not eligible. Jezza should resign and join the Greens, his more natural home.

Well, given the new EDF rules, whatever Foxy thinks is wrong, so it's at the top. :) Admin... I think we need a vote on whether the roundabout is at the top or the bottom of LL. -

I think most MPs sit on one committee or the other. I think James was referring to ministerial ambitions. -

I always got the feeling that a lot of the three-pounders were Greens trying to merge the parties and Tories who spotted a good election loser. I note the Tories have moved to not make the same mistake and have closed the upcoming vote to any newly joining members.

According to a topographic website, the elevation at the roundabout is 23m (75 ft) above sea level at the roundabout and 55m (180 ft) at the junction with Upland Road. The distance between those points is 1.75km, that gives a gradient of about 1.82:100 or 1.46:80. A 'flat' roof generally has a gradient of 1:80. That's hardly a 'hill'. It barely rates as a 'gentle incline'. ETA: I think I just out-nerded rendelharris -

It's the bottom! LL is on a hill... LL is not on a hill, is it? Grove Lane/Dog Kennel Hill is, but not LL. -

I don't think it so much teaching us a lesson, but dissuading any groups in other countries thinking of agitating for a leave vote.

Well, for a start, the ?350m/week was a barefaced lie.

Someone asked this one Question Time on Sunday, but Dimblebot didn't put it to the panel... What happens if there is a General Election and the winning party has a manifesto promise of staying in the EU. Does that effectively quash the referendum result? -
This is now a full blown constitutional crisis....

I think there is more than a little irony in admin announcing Lou's reinstatement on the "This is now a full blown constitutional crisis" thread. -
Now Juncker has instructed EU official to not have any informal talks with the UK until A50 is triggered. Merkel has said that negotiations would not start, either formally or informally, until the UK formally initiated A50. Plus, she has said that any access to the single market would require the UK to accept free movement. As one EU diplomat said. ?The moment you push the button you?re in a stupidly weak negotiating position.? Brilliant, Boris. Just brilliant.

I have a few friends I know voted 'leave'. No biggie. They're entitled to their opinion. In fact, I get quite annoyed by people who say "I'd never go out/be friends with someone who voted Tory/Labour/Green".

Anna Soubry. That's how mad this current period of time is - I find myself in nodding agreement with people like Anna Soubry and Alex Salmond, who normally have me beating my head against the nearest hard object. I still think Diane Abbot is a pillock though, so reality is not completely out of kilter.

Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This is what happens when you allow the right to > hijack any campaign which appeals to the heart as > well as the head. There was a lot of fault on the left as well. Calling anyone who advocated 'leave' as a racist had the usual effect of just galvanising the opposition. I'll paste a post I made a few weeks ago... Posted by Loz June 07, 11:12PM ------------------------------------------------------- I think the most interesting part of the whole referendum is that, even with the mixture of left/right on both sides, traditional traits are showing... that is, the right fib outrageously and the left call anyone that doesn't agree with them names.
