  1. Hi , does anyone know of any walking groups in SE15 or SE22. I have retired and sometime ago I read of a Saturday morning walking group but I forget the details. Many thanks. Also any other activities and where would I find the information,
  2. I would like to recommend GMs if you want a good stylist and a pampering session. Hair is washed in a darkened room with water features and a lovely interior. I had a head massage and was offered a drink and was generally waited on. Ashleigh cut my hair and I have to say its the best cut I have ever had. The girls are friendly and the whole atmosphere is very welcoming. Treat yourself, by far the best hair dressers for miles around.
  3. This is ridiculous. I would always offer my seat to a pregnant woman or an older person. I was brought up with manners which seem to be in short supply. I was on the bus the other day when an elderly gentleman asked a boy how old he was as the boy was seated and he was standing. The boy was 12 and the man 78. I have also been pregnant and when heavily pregnant, swollen ankles, back pain etc., I found people did offer me their seat.
  4. The forensic evidence has been dismissed. The detective leading the case was also being investigated for falsifying documents and also beating another mother into a confession. They explained the bruises to her falling down the stairs and the Portuguese police have now reopened the case saying the McCanns are innocent.
  5. I have had a cheque book stolen and someone went into a branch in Clapham and tried to use it. When I reported it to the police they said it was a problem in the area. I was also annoyed with the bank who knew something dodgy was going on but did nothing to apprehend the culprit.
  6. I had a cheque book stolen and someone tried to use it in the bank who alerted me. When I reported it to the police I was told that this sort of thing was always happening in this area.
  7. Looks like you are in a minority Pearson.
  8. Oh please. Surely the police would rather spend time on catching real criminals rather than busting someone for selling a bit of hash. >:D
  9. Fab if its true that Scott has got it. Its got the potential to be a gold mine. Peckham really is up and coming.
  10. The Montpellier does some wonderful food since its been revamped. Its just off the Bellenden Road.
  11. I feel there is some scam going on somewhere. My cheque book was stolen in transit and someone attempted to use it at a Clapham branch. Also when they deliver a package they never knock but leave a card. When I phoned the police about my cheque book they said it was always happening in South London. Also the bank don't do enough to stop this. They called me and told me someone was trying to use my cheque book to transfer money into another account and they became suspicious. If thats the case why didnt they call the police or get them on CCTV?
  12. Apparently when they clone your card they may keep it for a while until they travel abroad so it may not have been cloned on Lordship Lane but sometime in the past. I think the lesson to be learned is to never let your card out of your sight at any time.
  13. The new Montpellier pub is a big improvement to the area, nice interior and good food. About time too. We are starved of decent pubs.

    Specsavers.

Does anyone share my frustration with Specsavers in Peckham:( ? Everytime I order my contacts they get it completely wrong. You can never get a reply on the phone and if you venture into the shop there is at least a half hour wait and a sense of stress and anger at all the customers attempting to wait patiently to be served or to sort something out thats gone wrong. I think I would rather go to the dentist than go into Specsavers, (well, maybe not but you know what I mean?). moved to the Lounge as it's not East Dulwich Specific - The Administrator
  15. I came off my bike and badly fractured my elbow in May. Can anyone give me any tips on how to get the courage to get back on my bike again? I so miss it and I have put on so much weight since I stopped cycling, it was also good for my mental health but I seem to make any excuse not to try to get back on it again. Any suggestions?
  16. I know what you mean. What is this fuss about Bellenden Road? They have some nice street lamps and an overpriced restaurant opposite the Wishing Well. Everytime the media focuses on Peckham they go to Bellenden Road!!!!!! Why for goodness sake?
  17. Its about time they did something with that pub, it has so much potential. Apart from food, they could get involved with the comedy circuit, put on live music, the place is a goldmine with the right imagination/intelligence running it. Its time Peckham started going a bit upmarket. We've got the Gowlett and the Rye (which thinks its in the West End the prices it charges). Great, please keep me informed about the Mont.
  18. You poor thing you. I know Ive had a fear of dentists since before I can remember. I went to a dentist just by Peckham Rye station and she was a lovely french woman who made you feel at ease. Its just as you come out of the station but she was really nice. Ive always had problems with my teeth, think its genetic and I could tell you some horror stories but she was really ok. Good luck
  19. I know what you mean! Sometimes its like being in a creche especially in the afternoon and the Mums sit there drinking lemonade! Take them to the park for goodness sake. Ive had 3 children myself but it was 'my space' to go to the pub, get a baby sitter and have some me time where I could be a person and talk to adults. I know in Europe they are more child friendly in bars etc., but at the same time I really don't want to see kids in pubs.
  20. I live on McDermott road and I often have to get the 37 to Brixton. I wonder does anyone know who I approach about a zebra crossing there. You take your life in your hands trying to cross the road there to get the bus and I heard , and I really hope the family are not reading this, that a man got decapitated there about 6 months ago while trying to cross the road. Does anyone know who I would approach to get a zebra crossing there? It really is dangerous trying to cross the road, sometimes taking 10 minutes before I can make a run for it. I dread having to attempt to cross that road.
  21. Please tell me that you are joking. Is there not enough God Squad and voodoo on Rye Lane, Is there not enough lack of shops?
  22. Tracey Barlow (aka Kate Ford) and the gay guy from Emmerdale have been spotted recently and lots of people from the Bill.
  23. I agree with you. It is scarey. Also in a morning when I am running late for work, which is usually every morning, there is no-where to buy a coffee or a newspaper. Can we campaign to demolish Rye Lane and open some decent shops instead of row after row of ?1 shops and shops selling the same tack. They opened that new market called Sky or something and its full of more tack. There is no bookshops, record shops (unless its God squad stuff). No where to buy clothes, nowhere to eat. The place stinks of deprivation and we should all be saying something about it. Depressing.
