But I may have got this completely wrong, in those days I only visited Lordship Lane to go to the Dulwich Tandoori on a Saturday night 😂

redjam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Wonder what the rationale is for clearing out all > the vegetation. I imagine it's so that the water can run away more easily, and not be left to make the surrounding ground waterlogged. We have work parties twice a year on our allotment site, and among the things done are clearing any vegetation blocking the ditches/drains which take away water. Like everywhere else the site is very waterlogged in places at the moment though. One of the oldest plotholders says it's the wettest winter he can remember, and he thinks it's due to climate change 😥

Thanks for that explanation, JRJ.

Agreed. It was a pity a lot of threads disappeared last time, though understandable. And it would be great to have some warning if our PMs are going to disappear!

I went to classes, in the seventies it must have been. I can still recall sitting in a room and realising I had reached a point (not long into the course, lol) where I just couldn't get my head around whatever was being taught at that session. I never went back. I was gobsmacked when somebody told me recently that Fortran is still used - surely this can't be true?

It was more finding the error/s that was the problem. I used to go running off to somebody who knew more about it all than me :))

Then all the cards were put in a box and had to be in exactly the right order. If you dropped the box, God help you. Then you took them to the computer lab (as you say, computer the size of a room) and left them there for a day or so. Then when you collected them, generally there was a long scroll of paper saying error error error and you had to go through all the cards to find the error, and then take them back to the lab again. Oh happy days. I've just remembered the name of the statistical test, it was the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test 😶 You can probably do it these days by pressing a button on a calculator on your mobile (once you've input the data) 😶

Not software, but I've found TSO Host cheap and reliable for hosting a website. No idea if it's a similar system for forums, though!

JohnL Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Oh - I found a little tutorial site. > > https://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp I think that was where I learned html what seems like zillions of years ago. Over a very intensive weekend. Then I spent the next weekend learning CSS. It was very useful at the time 😶

This is getting boring, Trolley Snatcha.

Following the phone call from their rheumatology department, when I told them I'd already had the jab at St Thomas's, I've just now had a text from Kings, saying they are inviting "specified patients" to have the jab there, and to ignore the text if an appointment is already booked with my GP or another hospital. They then give an email address to which you have to respond with your details - which include your KCH hospital number (if known) but not your NHS number. This all seems like a terrible waste of admin resources. Surely there must be/should be a central database? No? I'm waiting for a call from my GP now ... 🙄

There's no stopping you now, KK 🤣

KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > That's really cool, how do you make the letters go > bold like that ? You do it as you would in html. You will have to Google it as I can't work out a way to do it unless I do a screenshot of what I type.
