If you were classified as extremely vulnerable you would be on the shielding list and be getting letters accordingly. If you aren't sure, you should ask your GP, but this article gives a list of conditions, if you scroll down: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19 I don't think asthma counts unless it is very severe.

🙄🙄🙄 I don't do "important community work". My partner and I run music gigs (or did) and have organised music stages at some community events. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, BTW.
  4. How annoying. Just been phoned from Kings rheumatology department to offer me the vaccine. Would have been much more convenient than St Thomas's 😭 You would have thought there would be a central database of who had had it, wouldn't you?

I have a horrible feeling that this will be "the new normal". Unless Labour get in and un-privatise (is that a word?) the service.

They can cook my meals as well. They could be on a rota.

That use doesn't seem very common, does it? Considering you have to scroll right down past a load of other stuff to get to it. Crikey, perhaps I could earn some money and get my housework done at the same time :))

When I googled MUFC that wasn't the meaning that came up at all :)) :)) :)) But you make whatever assumptions you like about me, ken78, if it makes you feel better :)) I'm sure they are amusing my partner :)) ETA: But maybe have a look at the online Urban Dictionary :)) (lights blue touchpaper and stands back .....) My acronym knowledge has been vastly increased by this thread. Now I'm looking for a suitable opportunity to use MUFC :)) Which won't be in a football context :))

And some of those > who are asked to shield are indeed very > vulnerable, but are not able to be vaccinated > (e.g. they may be on immuno-suppressant > medication). > Just wondering where you got this information, Penguin68? I'm on immuno-suppressant medication, and have just been vaccinated, so now I'm rather worried! I just googled and found this (from the Arthritis Action website - I have no idea how accurate it may be, but it was updated on 14 December) The bold is mine. Q: Should I have the Covid-19 vaccination, and will it work if I am immunosuppressed? A: Several very promising vaccinations will become available over the coming months. They have been shown to be effective in the over 65 age group and it is likely that they will also be effective in those on immunosuppressing medicines too. Certain medicines for example rituximab are known to reduce the efficacy of other vaccinations so many people on this medicine will have already switched to an alternative where possible. Existing vaccinations, for example the annual influenza vaccination is still very effective for people on methotrexate and other immunosuppressing medicines, so it is likely that the Covid-19 vaccination will also be effective. People in the most vulnerable groups are likely to be offered the vaccination first, so if you are immunosuppressed, the advice is likely to be to accept the vaccination when it becomes available. I was asked (as I assume everybody is) to take a list of my medication with me, but I wasn't asked for it, I was just asked if I was on blood thinners (no) and also shown a list of the vaccine ingredients and asked if I was allergic to any of them (the only one I recognised was sucrose!!!)

Spartacus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sue > > Whatever you do, don't shop at PC world / curry's > > They check everything on the way out. > I know, and it's quite right that they do that. I bought my last printer there. But they don't wait till you've got outside and then accost you in a street crowded with Christmas shoppers, and continue even after being shown the receipt. It really shakes you up in any case being accused of something you haven't done, let alone in a place where some of the passers by are likely to know you. I made the point to M&S that it was quite likely that people we didn't know would know who we were, because of our involvement in local music and community events.

Mine was given on the upper arm. I had to remove four layers of clothing from that arm (it was Friday, a very cold day and I feel the cold). I had already taken my coat off whilst waiting, which at least was inside (the poor people in the other very long queue for the other vaccination centre must have been freezing). I was aware I'd have to do that, it didn't take long and the person giving the jab was fine about it.

And you can only use it to actually book an appointment, not for contacting them about anything else.

  24. My sister-in-law is in her forties, and in the extremely vulnerable group. She lives in Hertfordshire, but had her jab at St Thomas's last week. She thinks she was called to have it there because she is an out patient there. If you were to look at her you probably wouldn't think she was ill, but in fact she is very ill. I think we need to remember that this isn't just about age. BTW you don't need to phone to make an appointment if you get a text. You can click on a link in the text and make an appointment immediately that way, which is what I did. It took about five minutes to make the appointments for both jabs (you go through a screening process first). ETA: It is not surprising the phone lines are constantly engaged with so many people phoning!
  25. This happened to us the Christmas before last. I had preordered all the Christmas stuff from M&S, and we went to the store in Lordship Lane on Christmas Eve to pick it up. I put it all in my shopping trolley and we left the store. OUTSIDE the store we were stopped by a security guard who, in full sight and sound of the very many passers by, asked me to show him what was in my trolley. I was absolutely furious, I showed him the (very long) receipt and he still wasn't happy, I opened the trolley and showed him what was in it (not that he could see everything, because it was rammed) and said if he wanted to pursue this he should take me/us (my partner was with me) into a back office, not do all this in the street in full view of everybody. Anyway, he didn't. He didn't even apologise, he just let us walk off. To add insult to injury, when we got home we found some of the pre-prepared veg was open and leaking over everything, plus one of the starters and the stuffing for the turkey was missing. We had foolishly assumed that the staff on the till where the Christmas stuff was collected were checking it as they brought it out, as they do at the Walworth Road store. We were in time to get the leaking veg replaced, as we found it as we were unpacking, but by the time we realised that stuff was missing M&S was closed and we couldn't get the stuffing anywhere else (a very kind person who posts on here gave us some stuffing on Christmas morning). After Christmas, I went back to the store to complain about the missing stuff, and was just told oh well, if you weren't charged for it there's no problem, is there? (Er, it was our Christmas dinner). I complained to M&S centrally, and to give them their due they were great, they apologised profusely for the security guard incident and said there would be staff training (I wouldn't have minded so much if it had all taken place in private, though I still don't know what caused him to pick on us) and gave me quite a lot of money - well, tokens - as compensation and also for the missing items.
