The UK locked down too late and not completely, and thousands of deaths could have been avoided if they had locked down even two weeks earlier. And "a little exposure" for some people can be fatal.
  2. My tadpoles are now froglets, and some of them have begun leaping from the sink into the garden! I have provided a ramp, but they seem to prefer just jumping ... Weirdly, some of the leapers still have quite long tails 😮 Also - for the first time in thirty years I saw a bat swooping around the garden (a couple of nights ago, around 11pm). Ulverscroft Road. Hope they don't eat froglets 😮 The sad reason for my being in the garden was that I heard what seemed to be a blackbird alarm call plus some bird commotion, which was strange at that time of night I thought a cat was probably involved, plus probably young birds, but sadly it turned out the noise wasn't close enough for me to shoo away the cat. I had to close my bedroom window, because the alarm call went on for ages and it was quite distressing 😢
  3. That's really useful, thanks 🙂

I assume that neither you nor anybody you love/know has been affected by this virus, and that you believe that the thousands of deaths are due to panic and hysteria? And the New Zealand (for example) government's swift and effective actions - you also think those were due to panic and hysteria? New Zealand has (apart from the latest glitch caused by infected people from this country) been able to get back to normal due to what you describe as overreaction, panic and hysteria. Yes, 100% of people born will die. Well spotted. However some of us would prefer not to die avoidable and unpleasant deaths because of the failures of both the government and selfish people who think even lax and confused guidelines are overreaction, panic and hysteria and therefore they can just ignore them. 😬

  8. Why is this thread in the lounge, btw?
  9. Just had a look too, and they are shortly closing down their gardening services as well 😢 https://www.pearspring.co.uk/

  11. Stag beetles have been seen on my allotment site (next to Camber tennis club opposite the old Harvester on the South Circular).
  12. Can't see a thread relating to the under eighteen travel issue, so posting this here. It's a petition asking the government to save the under-eighteens bus pass: https://action.labour.org.uk/page/s/keep-free-travel

There never seemed to be any customers in Oddbins anyway. It always looked closed even when it wasn't, not sure why.
  15. As the original post was in 2017, I doubt they are still looking for a wedding venue 🙂

Plus possibly poor management at the Peckham office (going on issues mentioned on other threads). But what do you mean by "jobs for the boys"? I doubt Royal Mail's selection processes have suddenly changed to be unfair.

And as for asparagus beetles, GRRRRRR.
  18. On our allotment yesterday a bird flew over which we couldn't identify, but on looking it up later we think it might have been a yellowhammer. Is that possible round here? We didn't get a very close look but it seemed to be about the size of a blackbird, and was brown with definite flashes of bright yellow. At least one of my taddies now has legs. I think I wasn't looking in the right place 🙃 Anyway I am now giving them pellets of food for taddies with legs (as I'm not sure how much natural food there is in the sink).

  20. Still no post 😢
  21. I like getting SE22, so I'm quite happy to quarantine it for a few days until I can read it 🙂 What is junk mail to one person is useful or interesting to another!

  23. Has he fallen out with his girlfriend? There would be a difference between coming back to live at yours permanently, and flitting between yours and hers (not on in present circumstances).
