From > 6th May > https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/coronavirus-d > eaths-southwark-areas-revealed/ Yes, thanks, I did know that but as for a while at least Southwark was also the worst hit area of London, I wondered whether Peckham may have also - then or more recently - been the area with the highest level in London.

  3. Express Dairy was a chain, and was certainly still going in the fifties :)
  4. Re the high level of sickness, I read recently that Peckham had the highest level of virus sickness in London (I may have misremembered this - it may have been in Southwark).
  5. One poor spider wove a web in the corner of my kitchen window, but the wind the next day demolished it to a sort of linear web rope :( I don't know what happened to the spider :(
  6. I think probably times have changed due to current circumstances and staff absence etc.. Also there may have been social distancing issues with taking your letter. Which doesn't excuse rudeness, of course.
  7. There is a discussion about all this here: /forum/read.php?5,1984285,page=7
  8. Great photo! Lucky you!

Obviously they aren't happening at the moment, but you can get free cycling lessons. They are one to one, and they start off in the park (Dulwich or Peckham Rye). I can't remember who runs them. I was well over 6O when I had them. Also, there are routes through London which enable you to avoid the busiest main roads and interchanges (not sure that's the right word!)
  10. I do however have a toad! No idea how it got here! There have been frogs in the garden for some years, but I've never seen a toad before!

I'm not sure that what appears to be one rogue office can be used to represent the whole of Royal Mail? Not that I agree with their privatisation.
  15. You are enjoying yourself on here, aren't you, PnB? :))

In this case, it appears to be one particular delivery office manager. Whose "canning and doing" needs to be brought to the attention of senior managers, I would say.

I wasn't assuming anything .... I had to Google when all this started to find out if I fell into the extremely vulnerable category (which I did). I also phoned my GP to check whether I needed to shield, which if anybody was in any doubt I would have thought would be the thing to do? In fact because I hadn't had a letter from the NHS I asked my GP to provide a letter in case I needed one to get a supermarket delivery, but in the event I didn't need the GP's letter. I wonder how many more have not > received their letters. I haven't had mine either, but I've had a letter from the council saying I "should" have received it, plus two phone calls from the council asking if I'm OK or if I need help. I've also received emails from several supermarkets saying that they have been told that I'm on a priority list for deliveries. However most people needing to shield would probably already know that? I have read that some GPs have patients who come into the same category of needing shielding (eg same medical conditions) but some have received the NHS letter and some haven't. So if it is a postal problem rather than an NHS problem, it seems to be happening elsewhere, not just in this area :(

I don't think it was a closed shop. Anyone in ED could vote, if I recall. I voted.

From the angle the photo is taken, the top storey windows don't seem to line up with the ones below.
  22. There is apparently something very wrong with the management at Peckham sorting office, and it's about time something was done about it. It seems no time at all since the shambles when the Dulwich deliveries moved there from Sylvester Road. If it was me, my next step would be a complaint to the CEO of Royal Mail, copied in to Helen Hayes.
