I only had to wait twenty minutes, which I didn't think was bad under the circumstances. I had already registered under the government scheme (via the link from Sainsbury's website). I was told to phone again on Monday, when I think they are making more delivery slots available for customers at high risk.
  2. Dulwich Handy, sending you and your loved ones love, and best wishes for a full recovery x

And I take the point about things being out of date, and also texting being safer (though the posties are out anyway delivering other things). Though they didn't send anything out by text until telling people they MUST stay at home. They didn't send a text during the time they were ADVISING people not to go to pubs, etc..
  5. I don't think you can blame a jump in deaths on builders travelling to work!
  6. I think there will be a huge peak in deaths when the effects of all those people cramming onto beaches and parks are felt, plus of all the people who thought it was a great idea to go to pubs on the last evening before they had to close. Quite why the government initially thought "guidance" would work is a mystery to me. Though irritating (I'm very annoyed by it too) I'm not sure that one or two people getting a bit too close to each other at work will make a huge difference in the great scheme of things. But partly I think this is a result of an extremely poor public health campaign by the government. There has still been nothing delivered house to house spelling out exactly what people have to do (and why) to keep themselves and others safe. Not everybody watches TV/listens to the radio/uses social media (and in the case of the latter, there is a lot of fake news going about, anyway)
  7. Thanks, Ilona! I went on Sainsbury's website yesterday and the advice was to register for the government's list of vulnerable people and then that list would be passed on to Sainsbury's. There was a link to the place to sign up to the government link. However there is a quite restricted number of reasons, which do not include age or most disabilities, and you have to give your NHS number. I am not clear how this is going to work. I think a belt and braces approach would be to do both, assuming you meet one of the government's criteria for registering. I think there are going to be major problems with food supply soon, despite government reassurances, so probably best to register ASAP. ETA: Phoned that number, but they basically said to try again on Monday when more delivery slots would be available. I had to wait 20 minutes to speak to someone, which was a lot less than I expected.

  12. Really glad it's sorted, what a worrying situation.

  15. My Lucky Cat painted mine (with a bit of help) :))
  16. I'm so jealous, I get sparrows, blackbirds, collared doves (?) and a robin. Occasionally a wren and great tits, and my partner saw a goldfinch once. And that's about it :( But then according to that article, you have to keep looking up and hope something interesting flies over (of the bird variety, that is)!
  17. Any news?

It won't be him reading them anyway. It will be some minion in his office, probably working from home :) And if you do ever get a reply, it will just be a standard response.

  23. :)) :)) :)) Sadly the EDF For Sale section has (quite rightly) been closed for the duration ....

  25. Oh dear. But if they can't keep apart from each other when working, they shouldn't be continuing to do that work, surely?
