I gather the government is bringing in legislation to allow pubs and restaurants to provide take-away meals. I'm not sure that this is going to have a huge effect in practice. They should allow you to take out jugs of beer :))

JohnL Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Phlegm means it's not Covid19 :) just disgusting > normal stuff Actually that's not necessarily true. Yes, a dry cough is one of the main symptoms, but as I understand it coughing up thick phlegm can also be a synptom (though at that stage you'd probably be quite ill).

Ironically, the Tories have been throwing money around (in the budget, not the virus stuff) in a manner which prior to the election people were supposedly concerned that Labour would do. Where had the Magic Money Tree been hiding all these past ten years of austerity, and how did it suddenly magically appear?

Its slots go up to 7 April, and all full. I too would like to know how people can register as being in the high risk group. I wish I had bought a lot more stuff now on my last order, or as much as I could given the restrictions. It's all very well to accuse people of stockpiling, but what are you supposed to do?

Totally agree. "They" are trying to make the situation look better than it is. Though also, they apparently don't have anything near the number of testing kits required. Other countries have rigorously tested and therefore much more efficiently contained the virus. But what is really inexcusable is that NHS frontline staff are not being tested. There is a heart consultant (I think it was) who went home with a fever and cough. He was told he would not be tested (he is trying to get a test kit from a colleague abroad). He has potentially infected both patients and other staff, but nobody is being tested. An elderly woman on his ward died of the virus. He is sure she got it whilst at the hospital. We are in the hands of a bunch of muppets. ETA: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/17/there-is-a-policy-of-surrender-doctor-on-uks-covid-19-failures?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Feed

Builder's radio (I can hear quite clearly through double glazing)
Sue replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I thought the forum had improved lately, with fewer nasty people on it. Clearly I was wrong. I don't know whether they deliberately troll or whether they are just unhappy people taking it out on others. Very sad, in all senses of the word. Thanks to those who have been supportive. ETA: I am not rolling in money. I am a pensioner who moved here thirty years ago, before gentrification. The acoustic glass is because I was being constantly woken up by a neighbour's boiler. -

Tesco. I had a home delivery from them last week. Assume they must deliver to SE25. However obviously the situation has changed since last week, and I did have to get a late evening delivery. ETA: Also, I've never used them and don't know their delivery range, but Aldi and Asda? I think the Co-op delivers, but not sure whether that's just click and collect.

The trouble is ianr, you could be infected early, then over and out rather than over with and carry on. And in any case, "they" don't have enough info at the moment to know whether you would be permanently immune once you have been infected, or whether the immunity might wear off. Plus the present form of the virus might mutate. And probably will at some point. Don't know whether to laugh or cry really :)

There was no water on Ulverscroft (at least my bit) around midnight last night. However it was back on this morning. Given that there are sewer works ongoing in the road, it would seem sensible to fill a few saucepans and/or thermoses with water, and keep them topped up whenever the water comes back on? ETA: This may not be related to those works, but the same thing has happened with the water twice recently (off late at night, back on in the morning) so sensible to keep supplies in anyway I think?

mutual aid whatsapp group for barry road

There is also one for Ulverscroft Road. -
gromit3:16 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The communinity is not coming together, Actually you are wrong. Some lovely people in my road have started a WhatsApp group for the road, and dropped in flyers to people in the road giving their mobile numbers and offering to get shopping, post letters, etc.. I know there are similar initiatives in Nunhead. I don't know about in East Dulwich. This has partly restored my faith in human nature. Good for them.

I can't do them because I'm not well. That's why I'm presently lying in bed all day. This is a section about local issues. Do you think it is acceptable for builders (and this is not the only one in this area) to have their radios blaring out at such high volume that I can hear it through acoustic glass? Some noises are unavoidable. That isn't. It's antisocial, in my view. By all means have the radio on outside if you really can't bear your own company. But please keep it at a reasonable level! -

Probably my stupidity, but I have not been able to find any predictions as to how long this situation is likely to last. If anything reliable is available, of course. We had already cancelled/postponed our next two upcoming gigs, and will cancel the May ones, but I'm wondering for how long to "wait and see" for June or just to cancel/postpone them now. The Autumn ones can wait until we see how the situation is over the summer.
