  1. Rats are very intelligent.
  2. Renata, when you say "refuse to switch off their engines when asked", do you mean asked by any member of the public, or asked by a Southwark official of some kind?
  3. That's terrible :(
  4. OMG I'm just reading Guardian Weekend and the Tim Dowling column headline includes "total eclipse of the heart". How weird is that?
  5. :)) I love that song!

Nah it's nowhere near as bad as to need to see a doctor! No way to treat a virus anyway, you just have to rest.
  7. The last reincarnation of the Flying Pig was a disaster (ETA: In my opinion). Sorry, but it just didn't deserve to succeed. We spent many happy times in there in the past on the sofa playing Scrabble, but something went very very wrong. Last time we were there, the bar had cleaning stuff just lying around in full sight. I suppose at least that meant they were cleaning it :))

Damn. Not what I wanted to hear, but thanks!

  10. I have just come across a letter from TfL which I imagine everybody round here got, which starts "Dear resident, We are seeking your views on the Mayor's plan to cut dangerous air pollution in your area by expanding the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ)." Further information here: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone?cid=ultra-low-emission-zone There is an online questionnaire to air (no pun intended) your views, but frankly once I started reading it all my head was spinning (and not from exhaust fumes .....)
  11. I do read the Guardian online (and the paper version on Saturdays) but I don't remember seeing that particular article. I'll have a look for it, thanks moondancer.
  12. I know there's a lot of stuff going around, and huge commiserations if you have or have had flu. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a relatively minor virus (I presume) with symptoms of sore eyes, muzzy head, on and off sore throat, on and off runny nose, on and off aches, occasional dry cough, feeling very sleepy and a day or so wiped out in bed? I ask because I thought mine had gone away, and now it's come back again :( I'm wondering how long it's likely to go on for, because my energy levels are really low and I'm finding it hard to get much done.
  13. The other night, quite late, I opened the window because the sky looked a strange colour and I wanted a closer look. The smell of pollution was absolutely dreadful. It seems to me that the situation in London is almost as bad now as some places I went years ago when I was travelling, when some groups of tourists were wearing masks to cover their noses and mouths, for example the outskirts of Kathmandu. ETA: I have asthma, and I am seriously considering whether I want to continue living in London.
  14. That's very intimidating.
  15. Good on you for doing something. Unfortunately in my experience most people just don't want to get involved, even if it is clear that somebody is in trouble :(

  18. Yes :))
  19. Juicypips666 (??666??) seems to have given up on his/her own thread, so maybe we will never know where the dog is ..
  20. Well done DF and everybody who did it. I had a wet January :))
  21. It was really bright earlier, my whole garden was lit up!
  22. If going by bus, just get off at the stop before the lights and cross at the crossing at the lights (I assume from the previous post that this stop is open).
  23. They may be if they go out and leave the dog in the garden.
