  1. Yes indeed. Sorry I thought I had replied to James. Makes sense to see if they pick it up tomorrow!
  2. It will probably vary from day to day. Google maps will tell you the best route taking into account current traffic conditions, delays and bus or train times, and you can set it for walking, car or public transport. You just put in the start and finish point. You can do it in advance but obviously that will be less accurate if there's a subsequent accident or other holdup on the route.
  3. I reported it online but they haven't been collected yet, so I presume they will just go with the next collection on Tuesday. I didn't report it the same day as I think you are asked to wait?
  4. Not an expert by any means, but you could try removing EDF cookies? Also try asking on the "About this forum" section, or try PMing admin? ETA: I presume it's only happening on one device?
  5. That is awful, but crikey, a ?40 tip? How much was the meal?!

  7. What have they replaced the play area with, out of interest?

Simple. No, I think you missed the OP's point :)) She was talking about somewhere for her kids to play whilst the adults had a Valentine's dinner. She wasn't talking about somewhere for her kids to play in general. And if pubs didn't allow children, there would be even more pubs closing down than there are now. With the availability of cheap drink in supermarkets etc (at least cheap compared to pub prices) many people now drink at home. Obviously if you aren't keen on children in pubs, go to a pub which doesn't have them, while you still can....

Because they have a good range of well kept and well priced drinks? Because they have reasonably priced food which may not be the East Dulwich gourmet's food of choice but is child friendly and filling?

Why would you send your children to play out of sight in a park across a main road while you were eating?

No idea what it's like as I have never bought any, but there is a stall selling fresh pasta in North Cross Road on Saturdays. ETA: No idea if it's there every week, but I think it is.

  13. Penguin68 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- My brown bin sends out a scout to consolidate waste and put it > into the road for the lorry following to collect - Crikey, a smart brown bin, blooming modern technology :)) Thanks Penguin68 and nxjen, I'll see if the bags are still there tomorrow and if they are I'll contact the council. It's a bit annoying as I had carefully lifted them over the wall to put them by the bins, and they're sopping wet, as well.
  14. I will do provided I'm sure it actually is a missed collection .....
  15. It was my blue bin collection day today, and the bin people have emptied my blue bin and my small brown bin, but have left three brown council paper bags of garden waste (weeds mostly) which I had left on the pavement with my bins. Just wondering whether anybody else has also had this? Are the brown bags collected separately? I always thought they were collected with the rest of the recycling.
  16. It works both ways. I know people who moved because of the people who moved in next to them :) ETA: Also, different people have different expectations and tolerance levels for noise, and different kinds of noise, frequent or one off.
  17. The last time we went to the Curry Cabin (and at one time it was our local Indian restaurant of choice) the reason given for a meal that let's say was not up to their previous standards was that the chef was drunk :)) It was all a bit Fawlty Towers :))
  18. I also live in a Victorian terrace and yes, as I'm sure with any adjoining houses, I can hear sounds from both sides and no doubt they can hear me. Also, sounds travel in weird ways.
  19. I use Plusnet, but I'm shortly coming to the end of my current contract and will be comparing different options. It's OK, their customer service has been good when I've needed it, with helpful advice. WiFi is patchy but I don't think that's Plusnet's fault, and moving the router a very small distance greatly improved things in a bad corner of my living room.
  20. There is already a thread on here about this.
  21. I lost a brooch last night somewhere between The Ivy House and the North Cross Road area. I went via the 484 and then walked up Crystal Palace Road. It is a wooden painted cat. It isn't worth anything but I was fond of it. If you happen to have picked it up, I'd love it back. Small reward for its safe return!
  22. I thought it was Moxons who were opening the restaurant, have I misunderstood?

So they shouldn't > penalise you. If memory serves, the NFU was not interested in insuring my house. Can't remember if it was because of the postcode or because of a subsidence claim (except it wasn't called subsidence by the insurance company at the time, plus it was caused by faulty drains and was completely sorted) in the dim and distant past. ETA: Oh sorry, I have just realised this is about contents insurance. Though I have a joint buildings/contents policy.

I had never heard of Mark and Sons, so I googled them. Seems others have had a similar experience: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=mark+and+sons+east+dulwich&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&dcr=0&ei=vF57WpncHLPP8AfMvYDoCA#gfe_rd=cr&lrd=0x4876039064720321:0x5f1370d390c3957e,1,,,
