  1. Good on you for doing something. Unfortunately in my experience most people just don't want to get involved, even if it is clear that somebody is in trouble :(

  4. Yes :))
  5. Juicypips666 (??666??) seems to have given up on his/her own thread, so maybe we will never know where the dog is ..
  6. Well done DF and everybody who did it. I had a wet January :))
  7. It was really bright earlier, my whole garden was lit up!
  8. If going by bus, just get off at the stop before the lights and cross at the crossing at the lights (I assume from the previous post that this stop is open).
  9. They may be if they go out and leave the dog in the garden.
  10. I saw the piece about the sanctuary. Disgraceful. If there is illegal activity which if I understand you rightly the police are turning a blind eye to (grammar), then cannot the local MP or councillors take the matter up in the appropriate quarters? Or failing that a local (or indeed national) paper?
  11. I thought hunting was illegal? Are they hunting foxes, or some mechanical thing or what?
  12. I don't know about other satnavs, but if you use Google Maps, you can look at a text description of the route before you set off. Or indeed look at the map in advance to see which way it is going to take you ..... And it tells you the estimated length of time the journey will take before you set off ..... And shows you where there is heavy traffic and gives you alternative routes to avoid it. Glad you got there safely in the end :)
  13. Which end of Upland Road is it? ETA: I ask because I frequently hear a dog barking lately, and it's possibly in Upland Road, if it was the end near The Actress.
  14. We realised there must have been a power cut last night because the clock on the cooker was flashing. Thanks for the confirmation!

I'm with Flow and their customer service is very good too. However I do always check out alternatives whenever my current contract comes to an end, and sometimes in between as well.

I imagine if the same people could only see in black and white, they would claim that there was no colour, and anybody who said they could see in colour was talking nonsense. Some people are more sensitive than others.
  17. I couldn't possibly comment :))
  18. There is a lovely book by Carol Ann Duffy about ageing and death, called "The Gift". It also has beautiful illustrations. It's very short. I think it would be suitable for a six year old but obviously you would have to decide whether it might help your daughter, and whether now would be an appropriate time anyway. I'm very sorry for your loss, and I really feel for your daughter. ETA: Cruse may be able to recommend a suitable counsellor? http://www.crusebereavementcare.org.uk
  19. Well you're a charming little ray of sunshine, Dog duck, aren't you :)) ETA: Maybe you should just stick to the word association thread. You seem to spend a lot of time there. Some of your posts on it give us all an interesting insight into your character .... I just clicked on your name and all the words were there ....
  20. Those hard overcooked watery scrambled eggs are vile.

As soon as one house near me finally completes whatever building work they are having done, another one starts. Front and back. Right and left. Banging, drilling, sawing, shouting. A lot of shouting. Lorries. Vans. Skips arriving, skips departing. I can't imagine most of the houses in my road have anything left they could possibly need doing to them (apart from mine :)) ) And now I have Thames Water doing something to a sewer a few metres from where I am trying to work. Every other word seems to be the F word, and they seem to be permanently encamped there. With pneumatic drills. I feel your pain :)
