Graffiti on Outdoor Gallery mural - Kinsale Road
Sue replied to just_browsing's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
nxjen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The originators of graffiti as an art form > probably started as 14 year olds doing crap tags. Yep. And I'm going to the Basquiat exhibition next week. Graffiti morphed into art worth millions of pounds and a show at the Barbican. Discuss. -

Yes, Fox, that is copied and pasted from the link I just gave above .....

The fruit shop was open regularly until there were problems with a new landlady, if memory serves. ETA: In neither case was there a deliberate policy to only open erratic hours. I can however think of two examples. One was Jacks, the cafe in Pellatt Road - long gone. The other is the newish crepe place in North Cross Road, which seems to be more closed than open and I can't imagine is going to last long, though I hope I'm proved wrong.

It's a permanent cover, surely, as in under an archway or something? And presumably can't be in a residential area?

The pneumonia jab is not an annual one, apparently. If you are over 65 you just need one, which protects for life. I wouldn't have thought a surgery should offer it at the same time as a flu jab, in view of the fact that both of them could have side-effects, but then I'm not a medical professional so who knows. http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/vaccinations/Pages/pneumococcal-vaccination.aspx

rant about children crossing the road irresponsibly
Sue replied to sweetgirl's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
hammerman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I've seen terrible road crossings by adults with > primary age children over the years, i.e. not > bothering to wait for the green man or the > lollipop lady/man! If there's no traffic coming in either direction, and no side roads from which a car could suddenly appear, I don't wait for the green man either. And I can't help but wonder what the primary age children think when they see a completely clear road and a load of adults standing like sheep waiting for a red man to turn green. And often it doesn't, because nobody has actually pressed the button ...... It's surely about teaching children traffic awareness and how to stay safe, not following a ritual just for the sake of it. -

FFS. Needs it running for the children? What on earth does that mean, if there aren't any children on the coach?!

Asian man in 20s with a quiff and beard? Thank you!

Lolamaxx, hope your baby is ok? -
Not much point it being illegal if there are no sanctions and no policing of it. Much like the 20 speed limit :(

malumbu Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Curry sauce and chips, in deed great. This was a whole curry, not just sauce :)) Including the rice. With chips as well. And very delicious it was too. Can't remember what the meat was, but there must have been meat, it was very unusual to be a vegetarian in those days. If you were, you probably had to have cheese salad or an omelette, assuming the student caff served such things ...... can't remember .....

Thanks BNG, yes that looks like it. No sign of any sparrows this morning :(

Same here, Loz. And I've just read this: Amongst other things, it says the current vaccines which target specific strains of flu each year basically don't work on people over 65. So I needn't have had my jab yesterday :( Flu vaccine: NHS patients wanted to test 'universal' jab - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-41467097

Just seen a bird of prey in my very small garden after hearing wings flapping. Not sure what it was, but it wasn't a Peregrine Falcon. Buzzard? It saw me through the window and flew off before I could get a photo. Only the second time I've ever seen one in the garden. The last one got a starling, and I've never seen a starling in the garden since. Hope the sparrows come back :(

Crystal Palace Road - Pick up after your dogs!

Perhaps the bin is full? Why do that otherwise? -
Warning - dog poisoning risk in Nunhead cemetery

It's certainly the fungus/toadstool season, and many of them are poisonous. They could well be growing on a compost heap. Could the vet do some sort of toxicology test, or would that be prohibitively expensive? -

What is put on the compost heap? I'm wondering if it is plants which have been sprayed with weedkiller? -

I loved Iceland, especially for cheese, free range eggs, frozen fish and frozen veg, all good value. Much to my surprise I also love M&S for its excellent and good value food. I suspect it's not just me who shopped at Iceland and now shops at M&S, especially as the Co-op unfortunately still seems to be quite badly managed.

Crikey, that takes me back to my student days, the student caff used to do curry and chips :))
