I eat my words about Kebab and "Vine". Had a fantastic lamb shish there on Saturday night. Loads of tasty tender meat, especially considering it was a "small" one, and good fresh salad. My only gripe was the weird chilli sauce, which was sort of lumpy.

There used to be a restaurant in Exeter (maybe still is) called Fannies which was right next door to a surf shop (I think) called Willies. Cue childish sniggering.

I've found Gmail is really good at blocking spam. I have the opposite problem. It puts things into my spam folder which aren't spam and then deletes them after thirty days.. I only found this out recently :( And when informed that they aren't spam, it continues to treat emails from that address as spam :(

I wonder if Dulwich Fox could actually tell whose Madras was whose in a blind tasting. I also wonder how many people in East Dulwich actually eat in these restaurants. They certainly don't seem as full as they used to be, in fact they usually look quite empty. If only Tooting wasn't such a slog to get to. The food there is head and shoulders above anything round here.

If you can't find any you can make damson gin, as I just did. However I recommend you don't follow Nigel Slater's advice to freeze them and then bash them with a heavy object. A mallet and a rolling pin made no impression whatsoever until they were half thawed, and they ended up as mush, so there was little point in freezing them in the first place. It's the afternoon with a needle method next time :))

I've just reported the leak outside number 5 to Thames Water. It had already been reported this morning and they are sending someone out. Just posting to save anyone else reporting it.

Jade Boulangerie - Barry Rd closing tomorrow

Amazed to read that, because we only go to Blue Brick when we have enormous amounts of time on our hands and nothing time-critical coming up, because the food is lovely but the service is so extraordinarily slow!! -
Very sorry for your loss, James.

Jade Boulangerie - Barry Rd closing tomorrow

So it has been sold to someone else who has replaced all the staff? Have I got that right? What has the off licence got to do with it, have they bought Jade? Are they keeping the Jade name even though there's another branch in Lordship Lane, presumably still owned by the previous owners? I don't understand. -

He has been posting on here recently. Maybe he is on holiday.

I agree. Something changed a few years back, I don't know whether there was a change of management or something, and they started serving up truly cheap and horrible taramasalata etc.. Their lamb shish was OK last time I had it - better than Kebab and Stab, anyway - but I'd think twice before ordering anything else there now. And last time I had a shish from K and S they seemed to have drastically reduced the amount of meat in it.

Don't necessarily go for the cheapest though. I always look at reviews of customer service, as well.
