Just drop it Sue. > I think it is a great pity when any thread, whatever the topic, descends into unwarranted personal attacks and name-calling. And a great pity when it seems to be a greater forum crime to point this out than to be offensive in the first place. It isn't pedantry and it isn't arguing - it's asking for, and hoping for, courtesy and respect towards other posters on here. Anyway, glad to see that a burglar has recently been caught, and I hope you have recovered from your nasty experience, buddug.
  2. Do you actually know what a troll is, buddug? How is asking whether anybody thought of calling the police, in response to a post about suspicious behaviour where the police were never mentioned, in any way trolling? It seems like an obvious question to me! And it wasn't directed specifically at you. Unfortunately it seems that you are determined to be inflammatory on here by calling people names, not them. Maybe read over your own recent posts and consider who has actually taken the thread off topic?
  3. What previous posts? Please give examples if you are going to accuse people of being trolls.
  4. Sorry but I think you are out of order calling them trolls and judgmental f*cks. They didn't "jump on you". In fact rendelharris specifically said s/he didn't want to be judgmental. Why are you trying to make something out of nothing? They were making a very fair point based on the information which they had. I understand you have had a probably very frightening experience, but maybe don't take it out on people on here? ETA: And "the two of them are always doing this" ?!?! Examples please. I haven't noticed either of them trolling or being judgmental in any way.
  5. Bugdug, to be fair, you didn't mention in your post that you had called the police. I hardly think the people you are criticising were trolling. Both rendelharris and singalto are regular and respected posters on this forum. Good on you for what you did, but how were they supposed to know?
  6. Just keep on drinking alcohol :))

I'm getting an Error 404 from these links, saying the page no longer exists. And I can't see anywhere to actually vote, only to submit a nomination, which asks for all sorts of info? http://www.nabma.com/great-british-market-awards/

  9. It's clearly set up, sadly. No traffic in sight. It must have been the early hours, not "chucking out time". Still mildly amusing though .....

Years ago I had a parcel left on my front wall. It wasn't there when I got home. It contained a book entitled something like "How to get things for free" :)) Another time I returned home to a delivery slip saying "Your parcel is in the bin." It was. Luckily it wasn't rubbish collection day :))

  12. If you bought the house from a relative of the deceased owner, might they not know who Trixie is?
  13. Thanks for the explanation, Foxy!! Glad the dog is OK.

It's basically old and broken jewellery.

If they are metal, surely they can go in the blue bin regardless of size? If you phone the main council switchboard they will put you through to the right department, but if it was me I'd just put them in the blue bin :)
  16. If they are metal, would they not go in the blue recycling bin? Stuff in the green bin goes to landfill, so far as I know?
  17. See if charities like Shelter could make use of them, or suggest who could? I'm sure many homeless people would welcome them this weather.
  18. Borky, the price pencilled inside might have been from a previous shop. I quite often buy books from one charity shop but might take them back to another. You can't expect them to spend time rubbing or crossing out old prices. AAnd I presume the bar code is to help with their gift aid system, though they still seem to be running that very erratically depending on who is there when you take stuff in. I rarely find anything I want in the Mind shop any more. Much of it seems really expensive these days.
  19. It's weird, isn't it? You'd think they might have taken on board comments about their unclear/downright wrong notices :( Other shops - including other charity shops - manage to get it right by clearly stating if there are exclusions. I don't go into that smaller shop at all now. Shame, as I used to go in a lot. Don't suppose they have missed me 😀

If I have more recycling than will fit in the blue bin, I put it in a separate bin bag with a note attached saying it is recycling. Never had a problem, it has always been collected.
  22. The OP said specific details had not been included for good reason.

  24. People who respond to an ad on here with a curt PM along the lines of "When can I collect? Details please." Sorry people, no way am I giving anything to you, even if nobody else replies .........
