What's the definition of "antique" these days? And how does it differ from "vintage"?

Please tell me where you can get a rare/medium-rare burger round here, because I've never found one. Even if they accept the order, it always turns up well done :( ETA: Apologies, just seen the posts above. But even so, I've given up the attempt to get a less than well done burger in East Dulwich :(

The police advise on security issues, don't they? I realise this is a warmth as well as security issue, but a note from the police to Southwark Council to the effect that the house is vulnerable to break-ins might also add weight? And when it's all sorted (hopefully soon) a complaint to the council about the vile building inspector might help others in the same sort of situation in the future. Good luck.

Lively dogs and little kids - Peckham Rye Park
Sue replied to Coco22's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
No wonder people don't want to post on this forum. ETA The OP makes a perfectly fair and reasonable post and then gets attacked by people like Dulwichdarling. I agree with the name somebody else called them. Beginning with w and ending with r. And Dulwichdarling, it's not "banter", it's childish troublemaking. In my opinion. -
Example of kids' oral culture - can anyone recall?

I don't think that was a kids' game. I think it was some sort of cod psychology/new agey thing in the seventies or eighties. > -
Words you always have trouble spelling and have to look up

Judgment always looks wrong to me. -
To the best of my knowledge, John Lewis won't match online prices. If you are concerned about matching, I assume you are going to have the appliances on show rather than hidden, so you will want to consider aesthetics as well as as efficiency and reliability. Why not google Which Best Buys in your price range for each appliance (or at least which are their Worst Buys, so you can avoid them), make a shortlist for each appliance, then choose one brand which comes near the top for each appliance? Then you can google the cheapest price for each appliance (you don't need to get them all from the same place necessarily). Though look at online reviews for the places you are thinking of getting them from, as customer service is important too, not just price. If you want to see them in the flesh, Curries in the Old Kent Road seem to have a much bigger selection than John Lewis. Having said all that, John Lewis's own brand appliances are often quite plain and nice looking, whereas some of the others are in my opinion hideous, unless you like things like bright red logos jumping out at you all the time :(

The nearby pharmacy was surely the place to go, for tweezers and anti-histamines?

People who refer to written musical notes as dots. Dots?!?!

Drives me mad too. I don't expect there to be a ******* problem, so why tell me there isn't one? Grrrr indeed.

Over-zealous Holly Grove PCNs (Peckham Rye Station drop-offs)
Sue replied to Rowanofski's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don't understand this at all (the OP I mean, not the last post). There are rules, and clear punishments for breaking the rules. If you choose to break the rules, you run the risk of being punished if you're caught You might be unlucky to be caught, maybe, but hey ho shit happens. I don't understand why you might think you have grounds for appeal just because you only broke the rule "slightly"? It's just wasting everybody's time, isn't it? Sorry to sound harsh. I have been fined for speeding. I thought I was unlucky, not that I shouldn't have been fined. if you think there should be better provision for picking up people at the station, then make a case to the relevant councillor or whatever, but please don't whinge because you've been fined for breaking a clearly publicised rule. -

Blimey, had forgotten all about that place, haven't been there for years. If memory serves, for some reason they showed me some large cooking thing and explained how they made their rice in it. Can that be right?!
