You don't know much about art, do you? Jean-Michel Basquiat was a very famous black graffiti artist, to name just one.

There used to be one in The Ivy House, don't know if it's still going. Woolly Mondays I think it was called. Also StitchED and BitchED meet somewhere in ED, I think the EDT?

If somebody really was trying to get a football team off the ground, it might well not have any mention at all online yet.

PoisonIvy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Noooo! I loved this project. I thought the Queen > Bee was beautiful. I loved it too. I can't see how it could be painted back - as IngridB says above: "The bee/spider/fly was painted by Nunca, an incredibly famous street artist. He is from Brazil and was one of the 6 artists invited by Tate Modern to paint its building in a street art exhibition in 2008." How depressing that some people apparently consider a bland white wall more appealing than a really buzzy (pun intended) piece of art which brightened up that area no end.

So I don't think there's any kind of conspiracy against you at all!

Sea cucumber. But I know someone who has :) I nearly ate sparrows though. In Burma. I didn't notice the legs and beaks amongst the lumps on the skewer. Luckily I did, in time. So to cut to the chase, I've never eaten sparrows. Not knowingly anyway :))

Paddington? In my day it was Mary Plain. Also a bear, if memory serves. Since having it read to me (and the rest of the class) aged seven by the wicked (in the old sense) Mrs Edge, I have no desire ever to hear any Mary Plain ever again :( Or At The Back of the North bloody Wind. Hmmm. I've just googled Mary Plain. "Mary Plain and her bear family feature in the stories, but the main characters are Mary and her human friend, the Owl Man. (The name refers to his spectacles.) He is kind and indulgent to Mary. He often takes her on outings." Is that a euphemism?

I'm so disappointed. I read the title of the thread as Bun Eating Campaign :)

The bus announces East Dulwich police station (now closed)
Sue replied to Coman's topic in The Lounge
rememberwhen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It really annoys me when the bus announces > "Champion Hill" as it goes down Dog Kennel Hill. > IT'S NOT! But surely you don't want every single bus stop on Dog Kennel Hill to be announced as "Dog Kennel Hill"? That wouldn't be terribly useful to people who don't know the area, would it? It's announced as "Champion Hill" because it's the nearest stop to Champion Hill. Same as the stop in Lordship Lane nearest to North Cross Road is announced as "North Cross Road" rather than "Lordship Lane" :)) ETA: Or do you mean that they are announcing it in the wrong place, in which case ignore the above :)) -

Just want to thank you for all the hard work you put in locally and via this forum, James. Thanks. -
So, Jules6862, do you never park in a residential street apart from your own? Do you always pay for parking when away from your home?

If that is a serious post, that is a really selfish thing to do.

UK Power Networks had good updates on Twitter (thanks for the link above). Though they don't seem to have said what caused it in the first place. When I googled "power cuts London" I came up with some old stuff about power cuts where people were stuck on trains and tubes for hours, so we were comparatively lucky last night! The power cuts in the seventies were normally publicised in advance, if memory serves? What with that and constant bomb hoaxes, what a happy time we had. I was a student at the time.

Oh OK. I thought the problem with that bus filter was because the settings had recently been changed so that it was on auto and set to allow only buses past even when there were no buses? Which was then causing tailbacks of non-bus traffic at these lights? There was another post (or thread) about that? Apologies if I've totally misunderstood! -
Their range of ales is excellent (Wetherspoons not Cherry Tree) and they are generally well kept. They are certainly very good value. I think the atmosphere varies from pub to pub. The food isn't great, but it isn't totally vile either. I've had much worse in places locally. I'm sorry they're not coming to ED, but glad the Cherry Tree will finally have new owners.
