  3. Yes the gap in house prices is closing rapidly and yes, houses are selling very quickly. Rough area, unlurked? You're joking, yes? Unfriendly people? Quite the opposite in my experience. Though - if "money-orientated" people are moving to Nunhead, that's a definite point against as far as I'm concerned. It's one of the reasons I'm considering moving out of ED :( ETA: I'm looking at the Rye end, not the Queen's Road end.
  4. Ah. The undertakers should come in handy if I run out of coffins :))
  5. KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Kids like this ...... > we'll run around in circles concentrating on the > person who does @#$%& all, yet destroys what > others have worked for ...... xxxxxxx KK, to be fair, we (and I'm making assumptions here) know absolutely nothing at all about this kid, or his background. I don't think it's right to leap to conclusions. Yes he might just be a nasty little shit, but he might also be abused, mentally ill, whatever. And even if he is just a nasty little shit, there are surely ways of trying to make sure he doesn't continue scratching cars, or carying on to worse things, which don't have the reverse effect (ie piss him off so much that he does go on to worse things). If you see what I mean.

  8. Yes, and near a lot of green spaces. And two great pubs with The Ivy House and The Old Nun's Head! Though not sure about the shops, which ones do you mean?

(number 7). No cat has legs that long, surely it's photoshopped!!!
  10. I'm considering moving from the North Cross Road area to Nunhead. Has anybody done it? If so, are you happy you did, or wish you hadn't? What would you say are the pros and cons? Ta :)
  11. uncleglen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > At 15 although he is a minor he should know right > from wrong. xxxxxxx Yes he should, but we have no idea of his background and clearly he either didn't, or chose not to use that knowledge. Harsh or inappropriate "punishment" or whatever is just going to make things worse - isn't it? Maybe he should meet with the people whose cars he scratched, and explain to them why he did it - if he can.

  13. Staying on the cat theme, albeit not Schrodinger's: http://en.rocketnews24.com/2013/05/08/when-two-amazing-worlds-collide-welcome-to-the-world-of-cat-sushi/ and http://www.wimp.com/cattheremin/ :))

    Sergio's

Jerry Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > My interest is simply that I liked Sergio, thought > the deli was good and that a good guy shouldn't be > squeezed out by greedy landlords. xxxxxxx But as I said above, the reason they themselves gave for closing down was increased competition from similar businesses who had opened locally. So presumably the "greedy landlords" only became an issue when their customers went elsewhere and they had less money to pay the landlords? Clearly somebody thinks they can make a go of a deli in that position, if another deli is opening there, and presumably they will be paying the same if not more to the landlord. It seems there is a lot more involved than just "extortionate ground rents charged by Dulwich Estates"? Don't get me wrong, Dulwich Estates may be charging a lot, but surely so would any landlord for property in a prime position in a prosperous area? ETA: And like any bookshop, I would guess that Village Books are losing customers to the internet, and therefore - like the deli- have less money available to pay the rent. That's an unfortunate fact of life.

What on earth is wrong with some people?

  18. Is it known who the boy was? Was he caught? ETA: Are the police aware? Not sure who would post the "victim" card, would that be the police, having traced your address via the reg number?

Never hear any complaints from > Brixton, Herne Hill, Clapham, Battersea, Barnes, > and finally Hounslow. xxxxxx Why would you hear complaints from those places? This is the East Dulwich Forum, for comments about this area - if those other places have forums, no doubt it's a topic for discussion on there as well!
  20. holloway Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It was discussed in a church meeting you say..? > Well that changes everything. Sergio's

But they had a notice on their door saying that they were closing because of the influx of competition from other delis etc in the area? Or words to that effect.
  22. FJDGoose seems to think it's going to be a dot :))

  25. Hooray! More opportunities to buy lots of very cheap things I don't really need but which I can't resist because they are so very cheap, but which then add up to zillions of pounds at the checkout - oh, and tealights :)
