You can click on any bus stop in the area (on a map, not on the actual bus stop, obviously, duh) and it will show you times of arrival of all the next buses. ETA: I agree no use if you don't have a smart phone, but hey, not so long ago we all just had to stamp our feet and moan if no bus appeared, now at least many of us know when it's likely to arrive ..... And the person above who has a ?500 phone - well, lucky lucky you, I hope it's ?500 worth better than the perfectly adequate smart phone I got "free" with my ?10-ish a month contract :))

I have a photo of it somewhere, can't be arsed to find it though :))

Your post is a joke, right? You're a friend of hers? Because if not, if what you have written is "real", I'm not surprised you got short shrift. I'd have booted you out of the shop, locked the door and permanently banned you :))

Tell you what, Louisa, we can go and share a main course and ask for two sets of cutlery and a spare plate :)) I'm up for the lamb :))
  10. Thank goodness nobody was hurt (so far as I know).
  11. The Brockwell Park display is on Tuesday 5 November, free, and apparently will have entertainment, food stalls etc from 5pm this year ..... http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/Services/Environment/ParksGreenSpaces/EventsInParks/Fireworks.htm

In fact I think we may have walked there too, as we gave up on the bus as they were all so full. Pubs around the park all heaving before and after - memo to self: remember the Stella :))

  15. onthemove123 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Blackheath is really nice, and it's free. It's > over quite quickly though. xxxxxx How long does it last? The last one I went to at Brockwell Park was quite long - whenever we thought it had finished, the fireworks started again! It was very good, it was just the getting out of the park afterwards that was bad - thousands (?) of people trying to get through a few gates, and then trying to cross the main road. There were police etc but it all seemed a bit disorganised nevertheless - though obviously the traffic can't be held up indefinitely :)
  16. Thanks PhilipHenslowe. Is the Blackheath display free?
  17. davidh Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- most of us want the new guys. xxxxxx "Most" of "us"?? Please speak for yourself rather than on behalf of other people! I don't want the new guys. I like Iceland for things like six large free-range eggs for a pound, the cheery people at the checkouts, and the welcome escape from pretentiousness.
  18. It's six pounds to get into Crystal Palace fireworks, and four pounds for kids :( http://crystalpalacefireworks.webeden.co.uk/prices/4536165936

  21. Was an absolute nightmare getting out of Brockwell Park after the display last time they had one. ETA: The display itself was very good though!

  23. singalto Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think it is very expensive. XXXXXX So do I. I was very surprised. I'm sure the food will be worth the money, but I shan't be able to afford to eat there. I suppose it's a "community" pub for the rich part of the community. The way this area is going, that's probably most of the community. Oh well. Good luck to them. I must admit from the way things were going earlier in the year I never thought it would get this far, so I have been proved wrong.
