New Absolutely Dulwich magazine??
Sue replied to Katy Tonbridge's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
edhistory Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > http://zest-media.com/about > > Part of the second wave of gentrification. > > John K xxxxxxx OMG, this is from their website: "Zest Media produces luxury lifestyle magazines for the ultra high net worth residents of London. Each publication has been individually tailored to its readership, the common thread being beautiful design and fascinating local content bringing a national tone to local magazines." Surely this isn't the "credible" magazine someone else was going on about on here? "Bringing a national tone to local magazines" ??? "Ultra high net worth residents of London"???? Jesus Christ. Sorry for blaspheming. -

Kingy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > but the beer is too damn expensive . full stop > (that's a full stop) xxxxxxx Kingy, they have a fantastic pint of Trumans for under three pounds. Yes, that's under three pounds. And a great choice of other ales also extremely cheaply. Have you actually been there? -
Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > As for Hoopers... a deal is a deal, but I really > doubt this is the best place for such disputes... xxxxxxx No of course it's not the best place, but if somebody calls a bar owner a "knob" on here because the bar owner objected to a musician passing the hat round when they had already agreed a fee with the bar owner, then - well, Jamie isn't here to defend himself, is he? As a music promoter myself, it seems all wrong to try to be paid twice, once by the pub and once by the audience. If an agreement isn't clear, then it should have been put in writing at the outset. And travelling expenses should have been taken into account when the fee was agreed. I don't blame Jamie for deducting the hat money, sorry Kingy. We had quite a few gigs at Hooper's, and it just wouldn't have occurred to me to pass a hat round, as Jamie was paying us/the musicians. Happy to discuss it over a pint or two .......

rosendale Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I recommend you to speak to the local council they > can provide you with your needs > alternatively you can find out with any church . xxxxxxx The local council will not have their own PA to hire out, I'm sure. They hire it from external companies for events they are involved in - at enormous cost to the council tax payer.

Kingy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >> > but the knob running it was a damn fool xxxxxxx Kingy, that is unfair and you know it. I was there the night you fell out with Jamie, and I think you need to tell the whole story on here if you are going to insult him in public.

You'd need to check with your insurance company which ones are acceptable to them. Hope your puppy is not too traumatised (and of course you!)

tiddles Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > also, I think we all agree that peckham park has > looked lovely (again) his year so it might be > worth dropping them a line to say how much it is > appreciated. xxxxxxx Parts of it have looked lovely, but parts of the park are also badly in need of weeding (and no, I'm not referring to areas of wild flowers!) and could generally do with a bit of TLC. I guess this is due to budget cuts, but it's very sad. It reminds me of what happened to South London parks (and probably others) in the Thatcher era, when everything was contracted out and went downhill fast. The walled garden in Brockwell Park and The Rookery at the top of Streatham Common were prime examples.

Warning:- Collecting for Cancer Research ??

I thought they were legit too. It was a young man who came to my house tonight - I didn't see any others. However I object to being approached by chuggers in the street, let alone in my own home, and I particularly didn't welcome them knocking on my door after dark (8.30pm), even though he was perfectly polite. -
Sorry then, I think ours would be too small. I'll PM you details of someone else who may be able to help.

How big a system do you need?

House of dreams - East Dulwich's best kept secret...
Sue replied to Kath Berry's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There was to be a book coming out about the house, anybody know whether publication is likely to be soon? -

The police appear to have dealt with this really appallingly badly. I am sure you probably don't want to add more stress to what sounds like a really frightening experience, but I wonder whether there is some complaints procedure? Too late for you, but it might help somebody else. How can they just not turn up for appointments? Also, did they not offer you any kind of support? I can't remember what it was called, but when I was once burgled when alone by myself in the house, I was offered some kind of counselling by the police. I didn't take it up, but had I had a horrendous experience like yours I might have done. ETA: So - they're not checking for potentially helpful CCTV images. Instead, they're going to wait until this guy makes "physical contact" with somebody. Oh, great.
