New 4G mobile service effecting freeview in East Dulwich
Sue replied to Callie's topic in The Lounge
I had that card, but I haven't noticed any problems with Freeview. Yet. But they have a free fix for it as you say, so hopefully it's not a long-term issue? -
Don't even ask how I came to look at this website, but it must be amongst the worst written tripe I've ever read in my life. http://www.travis-walton.com/abduction.html It's so bad it almost physically hurts to read it :)) ETA: Except that pissing myself laughing helps the physical pain :))

A somewhat confused article about the 5:2 diet on the NHS website: http://www.nhs.uk/news/2013/01January/Pages/Does-the-5-2-intermittent-fasting-diet-work.aspx The issues of high/low GI foods are surely something else. You say "Allowing blood sugar to dip you will experience fatigue, poor concentration, irritability, nervousness, depression, sweating, headaches, cravings and digestive problems." I haven't had any of those symptoms since I started this diet, on either the fasting or the "feasting" days. Not quite sure what you mean by "binging" but it sounds like an eating disorder to me, not what is recommended on this diet. When you say "the worst foods are white bread, potatoes, most rice" this is a GI index issue, isn't it? I'm sorry that you have diabetes, but I think you're muddying the waters here.

Apology accepted :) And respect for apologising. You're not the first person to post after wine and then regret it (including me .....) -
That's very interesting, thanks No-flies. They've been trying to get this approved for ages.

I do Mondays and Wednesdays. That gives me a clear run to stuff my face over the weekend, and I'm usually out on Tuesday nights so it means I can drink on those nights. Mondays are relatively easy, Wednesdays are harder, but on the other hand I know I've got four non-fasting days to come. If I'm out on a Monday or a Wednesday I just change the day I'm fasting that week. Once or twice I've missed one of the fast days altogether, but it's not a big deal unless you're trying to lose weight very quickly, and this isn't that kind of diet. The main problem I've found is that I'm eating things on the feasting days which I wouldn't normally eat, like bacon sandwiches, and eating less healthily overall than I used to, so consequently although my weight is at least stable I've lost very little. Though given the tiny amount of exercise I get that's not surprising. Probably as a result of the less healthy eating I've noticed a real deterioration in my skin since I started doing this :( But that may also be because I stopped taking vitamins etc when I became anxious and depressed (oh look! that's actually relevant to the thread title!) after problems with a builder four or five years ago and never really started to take them regularly again even when I felt better :( BTW I don't know why they call it a "fast", because it isn't. A fast surely would be eating nothing at all, just sipping hot water with a slice of lemon in it or something :))

Shannon's Garden Centre off Stanstead Road in Forest Hill isn't bad. http://www.shannonsgardencentre.co.uk/ and there's The Secret Garden in Crystal Palace. http://www.thesecretgardencentre.com/ But if I'm going in the direction of the Purley Way for something else I usually go to Wyevale. http://www.thegardeningwebsite.co.uk/wyevale-garden-centre-croydon-purley-way-i4929.html And I've found Crocus excellent for good mail order plants and good customer service. http://www.crocus.co.uk/plants/

Many people know who I am off the forum, and I have only ever used my own name on here. I run http://www.thegooseisout.com with my partner. Please don't come to any of our gigs. The people who come are lovely, and - shock horror - might even include people who live in hostels. -

Just looked at the miso I have, and one kind is around 200 cals per 100g and the other kind is around 240. No idea how many tablespoons or teaspoons would make up 100g though!

I've been on it since some time in January Finding the fasting days quite hard, but have not cheated at all because I know I can eat what I want the next day. Have to leave my first meal of the day as long as possible, preferably to about 3pm if I can, then a second one at about 8pm, then have an early night with the remains of my milk allowance heated up. Sadly I'm not losing much weight because I think I'm taking the feasting days too literally :)) :)) :)) Plus I'm a lazy slob and not getting enough exercise. ETA: I've also found that the morning after a fast day I'm not hungry. Which is quite weird because I've usually gone to bed ravenous. I find a bit of bouillon or marmite in hot water helps to stave off the hunger pangs, but you still have to count the calories in. Miso is quite high in calories, isn't it?

Could you post the attachment as a doc rather than a docx, as I can't read it? Thanks. Only just seen this thread, and your last year's shopping list looks like what I live on all the time ..... :( It never occurred to me I was living below some line ..... :(

How to Normalise Cycling in East Dulwich

That is exactly my problem. I had some cycle lessons last year, which were great and made me a lot more confident, but I have nowhere to keep a bike. Townleygreen, someone I know who has several bikes including a Brompton says folding bikes are quite unstable and weird to ride, do you not find that? Also, how long does it take you to fold and unfold it? I'm not sure I can afford one but I might consider it if I thought I would actually use it a lot. -
Some years back my neighbours and I had a situation where another neighbour was shouting and swearing at the top of his voice in his flat at all times of the day and night and had his window wide open in all weathers. One set of neighbours were particularly concerned because of their young children constantly hearing the f and c words at a time when they were just learning to talk. Funny if it's not your kids ,maybe. Long story short, and it took a great deal of persistence, we got his Housing Association to deal with it. Nobody at the Housing Association wanted to take responsibility to do it, it was passed from pillar to post there, and eventually we had to write to the CEO. However, it was eventually sorted. If you can find out who the landlord is, it would be worth asking whether these people are breaking the terms of their lease. I agree it is a nonsense that the council won't deal with noise other than music.

So > if you were buying a flat/house, whould you choose > one next to a hostel Sue? Don't think so somehow, > whatever you say here in the name of being 'right > on'. xxxxxxx Wherever I was looking to buy a flat/house, I would of course check out the neighbouring properties in case of potential problems. And of course I wouldn't deliberately choose to live somewhere where it was clear that there was going to be anti-social disruption. I wouldn't, however, assume that just because somewhere was designated as a "hostel" that there would automatically be problems, which seems to be what is being assumed here. It's not about being "right on", whatever that's supposed to mean. It's about looking at facts and evidence rather than making assumptions. -

James Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Um, perhaps the fact that there might be random > scumbags having domestics all hours of the day and > night on your doorstep? xxxxxx So people who live in a hostel or "something of that sort" are likely to be scumbags and/or likely to be "having domestics" on your doorstep? And your evidence for that is - what, exactly? Let's hope your personal circumstances never change to a point where the only option for you is to live in a hostel or "something of that sort", Girl82 and James.
