  1. There's one going over now (6)
  2. Do you mean Lent?!
  3. will dex Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The cost of the hire car alone > was ?13,000... xxxxxxx Eh? What on earth was it, made of gold?? :-S
  4. :)) ETA: That was in response to Speedbird, btw

  6. Dulwich Tandoori :)
  7. All of London is not equally affected by plane noise, Pearson. Certain areas are on flight paths, and this is one of them, unfortunately. And it has got very much worse since I moved here twenty years ago.
  8. Crikey, you people who don't notice it, do you have double glazing?
  9. I'm pretty sure there are a group of people who meet in Crystal Palace at a cafe opposite the bus station - or used to - but yes, PeckhamRose will know.
  10. Anywhere that does not involve having to be reminded of the wedding. Charles and Diana's wedding - was on Weymouth beach, it was deserted apart from my daughter and myself :)) Diana's funeral - cleared out garden shed (can't do that this time as I no longer have one).
  11. I was amazed to read in a local paper that the Irish Festival cost something like ?52k (I think) to run and that the council had been funding half of this. What on earth were they spending all that money on?
  12. Lousmith, I think you kindly offered me some frogspawn, but I can't find the post. I've been given some frog and toadspawn now, and am rushing out excitedly every morning to see if there's been any change ! I decided not to sink the tub into the ground because I'd probably have to move it again when I redesign my garden, so it's just sitting on top of the ground - I've provided a pile of stones inside the tub and a "bridge" onto solid land, so hopefully things will be able to find their way out .......
  13. Works for me in Firefox :)

  15. They don't appear to be responding to emails, either :-S Surely they must be required to at least send an acknowledgement?

    Strange vibrations

    Tune!
  17. Indeed, Chick. Referring to yourself? :))
  18. Oh well, who knows. The tree outside my house was quite new when it split down the middle as a result of somebody apparently trying to wrench off one of its branches, and the council had to remove it as it was a potential hazard. It only took them about two years to replace it :)) and that was only after I'd got James The Councillor involved!
  19. I'm making no further comments on this thread for fear of being called wilfully stupid and obnoxious again :)) Neither of which I think I was, and I certainly didn't intend to be, but hey ho .....
  20. Nice try, had me fooled for a minute :))
  21. It's possible there could have been a good reason for that eg tree was diseased or had got too big for its space and roots would potentially affect nearby houses. Back in the day street trees were planted with little consideration as to how big they would grow, I think. Not saying that's necessarily the reason, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt, eh.
  22. I want one! Where can I get one? :))
