  1. Yeh, yeh :))
  2. Half a dozen police vans between the bus garage and Medlar Street, loads of police and people about. Anybody know why?
  3. Is it to do with pollination? I believe pear trees need to be pollinated by a suitable partner to bear fruit? Google :)
  4. Yes re bags and boxes thrown onto plants. Yes re getting other people's bins. But you don't have to sort it any more, cans and glass go in together, so no need for a divider.
  5. Sadly I shan't be able to go, as I have another meeting.
  6. A leaflet put through my door about this meeting says that amongst the items for discussion is "Traffic management - North Cross Road Sunday market". I was under the impression that there was not now going to be a market in North Cross Road on Sundays. Has the situation changed?
  7. Cat heaven :)
  8. Or Sam Smith? :)

  10. Thanks tiddles, breath of fresh air and yes, I've had my two (or three) glasses too.
  11. Erm - "probably" ?? Not. ETA: That was in response to the post before last .....
  12. Eh? Don't diss the CPT! It's (one of) my locals and I love it! And I haven't noticed any hike in prices, but hey I drink the Stella (since they no longer have Broadside on draught, boo hiss, but hey the Actress have if I fancy a change of scene and a brisk stroll down Crystal Palace Road :)) )

Must have been strong stuff if I didn't notice :)) That's the last time I'm sending you to the bar cos I can't be arsed to leave my seat :) :)-D
  15. The East Dulwich Forum is made up of many individuals. Each of those individuals has his/her own take on things. How can a forum "come out of this worst"?
  16. Porch roof?? Step ladder??
  17. I didn't dare post to say the same, but now tiddles has - ditto, brilliant reggie :)
  18. Brilliant idea. I have no space to grow veg apart from some salad (mainly because I like to grow flowers in what little space I have), but I might have some herbs if the slugs and snails haven't eaten them :)

    Horniman gardens.

I agree being told you're being made redundant in a letter is pretty poor. But a lot of horticultural/parks staff are being made redundant at various councils due to council cuts - I doubt it's anything to do with the presence of the volunteers. I went to the Rookery (at the top of Streatham Common) yesterday and was really disappointed to see the pretty garden with the rivulets and waterfalls returning to the weedy and neglected state it was in for a long time during the Tory regime in the eighties. The gardens in Norwood Grove, just next to the Rookery, were in an even worse state of neglect. Different council apparently (Croydon rather than Lambeth). So actually the volunteers may be doing us all a favour as without them the situation at the Horniman might be even worse.
  20. Hey PeckhamRose, good call, I didn't know about that. They are about to get all my junk mail :))
  21. The only time I went to Mirash it was horrid. Indifferent food and uncomfortable chairs. As I say - everybody's opinion is different - the only way is to try places yourself and make up your own mind!
  22. Yes true, though Indian Mischief don't do many curries, as such :) But my OH had the cashew nut curry there last week and enjoyed it very much.....
  23. Prevailing wind must be favourable to East Dulwich :)) Make the most of it, people!
  24. How is a community event defined?
  25. Basically, it's a bit like hairdressers, innit. Depends what chef is on, what dish you order, what your preferences are, whether the chef/cutter is having a good day. All you can go on is your personal experience, which judging just by the posts on this thread varies wildly from person to person! So as far as listening to others' recommendations goes, you might as well make a list of East Dulwich curry houses and stick a pin in to make your choice :)
