  2. I have seen the cat a few times around North Cross Road, and apart from coming up for a stroke which many cats do, it didn't appear to be in distress to me spencertracy. And I say this as someone who has at different times taken in two "stray" cats which turned out not to be strays at all :-$ Including one which I was assured by a builder its owner had moved without it. What made you think it was in distress?
  3. I think it's unlikely in the extreme that the Woodland Trust would be sending out people to knock on doors. But you could always phone them to ask .....

Can get a bus there from Lordship Lane. But the music on its website puts me off :)) Would I be subjected to that all through the meal???

  6. There's already one just down the road, why would they open another one here?
  7. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Everyone around here has lost a cat at least once. I haven't, for one!
  8. Was there any particular reason why it was thought to be lost? It looks quite healthy and didn't appear to be in any distress.

  10. Does that cat not belong to The Actress? It was in and out of the Actress yesterday lunchtime.
  11. All blackbirds sing early in the morning as far as I know. If a tree hasn't got a leaf on it by this time of year, I'd say it was very very dead :))

  13. Well I filled in the survey but I thought it was crap. Can't believe whoever devised it had actually tried to answer the questions. And I can't see it's going to have much effect on our police station because they didn't ask for a postcode, just a borough. I hope I'm wrong.
  14. James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Do you think school drop and pick up a particualr > problem that needs some visits fro mthe smart car? xxxxx I took her post as being that that was what she was asking for?
  15. It's very quiet down our end apart from the blackbirds >:D< Sorry Fuschia :)
  16. Hey it's a kind of Cornflower, and I have some Cornflowers I sowed which are about to flower (very dark ones, not the bright blue ones) so if the seedheads bring goldfinches into my garden I shall be celebrating :)
  17. civilservant Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > She's also called Susan xx My namesake! Hurrah!! Bonniebird, nitpicky pedant that I am (as CivilServant can bear out ...) it's actually Br'er Fox, though I always thought it was Brer Fox and I also always thought it was pronounced to rhyme with bear - wrong on both counts evidently (though Wikipedia isn't always accurate) ..... From Wikipedia: Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear (with the title "Br'er" pronounced /ˈbruh/) are fictional characters from the Uncle Remus folktales adapted and compiled by Joel Chandler Harris. What happened to Brer/Br'er Rabbit? He's the only one I remember! Admin, please don't lounge this, I promise I will return to discussing the proposed extinction of urban foxes :-S
  18. CivilServant, :)) Do you know how long it will be staying there? It's great seeing it from the bus, particularly!
  19. What do you mean by baits? The RSPCA would probably be interested in that .....
  20. As one who once touched an electric fence by mistake, I wouldn't wish it on anybody, even a cat who has been crapping on my garden (and eyeing up my tadpoles). My answer will be very spiky plants like pyracantha at the points where they are getting in :))
  21. Ingrime Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- if you can't control your pet you > shouldn't be allowed to have one. xxxxxx And you "control" a cat - how, exactly, short of cruelly keeping it inside the whole time?
  22. HeadNun Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > They're a dirty, spiteful nuisance and really > shouldn't be encouraged, they are not benign at > all! xxxxxxx How can they be "spiteful"? They are animals doing what it is in their nature to do! I get cats crapping all over my garden - since unfortunately I still have patches of bare earth after some work was done on the garden boundaries - and cat owners are likely to get mangled birds and other small creatures brought into their houses, but surely nobody would suggest setting traps for cats? DulwichFox, :))
