  1. Prevailing wind must be favourable to East Dulwich :)) Make the most of it, people!
  2. How is a community event defined?
  3. Basically, it's a bit like hairdressers, innit. Depends what chef is on, what dish you order, what your preferences are, whether the chef/cutter is having a good day. All you can go on is your personal experience, which judging just by the posts on this thread varies wildly from person to person! So as far as listening to others' recommendations goes, you might as well make a list of East Dulwich curry houses and stick a pin in to make your choice :)
  4. It's just occurred to me that Chris also plays in a band Mistral which I think is a dance band, and I think less Breton orientated than Gig CB though I may be wrong ..... He deffo does things other than French stuff, as he plays melodeon for Old Palace Clog :)
  5. I believe Hoopers Bar are having a Not The Royal Wedding Day event, but they are strangely coy about it on their website :))
  6. Yes. So why not just say that in the first place instead of having a go? I'm off this thread, I don't want to get into yet another "discussion" with you, DJKQ, it just ruins my day, every time.
  7. So if the child was in fact left alone, which it may turn out he was, you don't think that's something which people might want to discuss?

My heart lifted > everytime I saw it. xxxxx Same here. If memory serves, it used to come over around 5pm, so sadly I wasn't often in to see it, but it was great when I was. It was so sad when Concorde was grounded, what a beautiful plane.

I now feel inspired to construct a Bee Hotel :) though one this size would take up most of my garden!
  10. FFS, I make a reasonable comment based on previous posts on the thread and you start having a go. What's your problem? Are you trying to drag up a previous thread, because I'm not. ETA: It's pointless speculating about what happened, however the OP said she was told that the child was left alone. That doesn't mean he was, as somebody else has pointed out. Do you have something constructive to add, DJKQ?
  11. womanofdulwich Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm being a bit thick here-what do you mean > exactly? do you think she was in the house and he > escaped ? xxxxxxx The most likely alternative to having been left alone and got out would be that he got out of an open door or window or gate, or opened one and got out, whilst there was somebody else in the house, not that he "escaped" (which would imply he was being held against his will)?
  12. You could try GigCB though they veer towards Breton :) but hey they're local! Contact is Chris Shaw, 0794 026 9223 If they're not suitable I'm sure he'll know of other people. Alternatively, Two For Joy, an offshoot of The Magpie's Nest, runs lots of ceilidhs/barn dances, mainly in North London but they've just extended them into South London, I'm sure they'd know of suitable bands for you. Contact them via their website http://www.themagpiesnest.co.uk I think the guy who organises the dances is Joe Buirski, but my memory's crap so I may be wrong :)) If not, Sam Lee can put you in touch with the relevant people.
  13. intexasatthe moment Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But we don't know for sure that the child was left > alone . xxxxxxx True, I was just going by what the OP said. Should know better by now! ETA: Though I did say "If it's true ...."
  14. If it's true he was left alone in the house, what on earth was she thinking of?
  15. In a previous thread on this subject, I believe it was said that the flight plan varies depending on wind direction? Or that it was varied to give residents of different areas some respite! Can't remember which though :-S
  16. You must have been really really unlucky fluffy, we've always had excellent meals, quite large enough portions, and very friendly service. I guess ambience is subjective, but I've always liked the atmosphere in Ganapati.
  17. Curry Cabin was excellent when we first went to it, then there was a sharp deterioration and one night we had an extremely poor meal and were actually told the chef was drunk :)) Haven't been back since. I've never had a bad meal or takeaway from Dulwich Tandoori, I'm very surprised at what you say left-e. I think the management would be mortified if they knew. Did you contact the restaurant?
  18. This is probably a very stupid question, but what happens if there is a rainstorm and my tub overflows? Will all the taddies get washed away? My solar fountain has arrived this morning, and has a back-up battery, hooray!
  19. Bloody hell, this isn't the philosophy group :))
  20. computedshorty, poor Herbie, afraid it did make me laugh though :)
  21. Annette Curtain Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What's this thread about, I read Tesco and glazed > over. xxxxxxx Why even bother looking at the thread then, let alone bother to post on it :))
  22. You could ask them for details of these properties which are supposedly under offer, and check some of them out?
  23. Excellent - well done! I like the Foresters on the map, takes me back :)) Ah, that pungent smell wafting from the Gents as you walked in (that's the loo not the clientele ....)
  24. Thanks, according to the website yes you get change back in points. But for this particular department I can only use vouchers in multiples of ?10 so I'll only be able to put ?20 towards it anyway, and pay the rest in cash.
  25. That Tesco is a tiny little local Tesco which only sells food. I don't think this thread is relevant to it in the least, and had I put it in the ED business section I'm sure it would have been lounged. If Admin think it should be in a section relating solely to ED, they can move it there. Why are you so concerned? ETA: If you look at the link, you will see this is about things sold by Tesco like clothes, electrical goods etc etc. OK I expect you can use your tokens in a tiny little local Tesco, but that isn't what my thread is about.
