Well I'd like an iPhone with zillions of apps, instead I have a non-iPhone on which I can get the weather, news headlines (out of date), wikipedia, sport and "celebrity news" :)) Oh and I can get Facebook and stuff, but I can't read any of it because the screen's so small :)) But hey, I only pay a tenner a month for loads of calls and texts and internet time and the phone was free, and I got a lovely hot pink leather case for it for a fiver from eBay, so hey who needs an iPhone (grrrrrrrr I want one (6):))).

On no, the goose is out! It's escaped from our website, I've spent most of the day redoing it so that's pretty ungrateful of it :)) www.thegooseisout.com

But now they're using BT servers it's supposed to be much improved, which is why I wondered if anyone had very recent experience of it.

Thanks for that Tog, I had been considering Virgin at one stage, as there is cable in my road and they inundate me with offers, but my daughter has just given me a freeview/personal recorder hard drive box thing which she couldn't use where she moved to (had to change to satellite TV due to no reception) so I gave up the cable plan. However looking at the list of broadband providers I got off the Moneysupermarket website, Virgin does seem to be quite cheap, maybe I need to have another look. So many things to take into account :))

It's also plus ?10 a month line rental, but I'm already paying BT line rental. So I think it would be around ?180 for the first year, as against AOL where it would be ?360 a year (though that includes anytime landline calls including 0870 and 0845 numbers - I have anytime landline calls from my mobile though, not the 0845 and stuff but that can't cost ?180 over a year surely!) I'm not very happy with AOL. Also they claimed I was getting a download speed of 8mbs, but when I checked it myself it was more like 3 !!!

Orange mobile reception in SE22: Problems??
Sue replied to ratty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have had an Orange mobile contract for years, and have had very few problems. But isn't it the case that work is being done to Orange masts at the mo, which has a knock-on effect on other masts, and that this is due to be completed in a few weeks? -
Plenty of squirrels in the woods though, surprised you haven't seen any Dulwich Fox. And you may not see many birds, but you can usually hear lots of birdsong.

They're called Gardman Fatsnax, I get them in tubs of fifty off the internet, they're nothing fancy, no added insects or berries or anything, just the cheapest I could get :)) But at this rate, it'll end up costing me more to feed the birds than to feed myself! I have peanuts and seeds out as well, but the fat balls seem to be favourite .... I did try making stuff myself last year, out of suet, but basically it didn't work (didn't set hard enough), may try again at some point.

I often actually ask for a receipt (and keep them!), in case I'm ever investigated by the tax people! There are also one or two places round here where it's noticeable that if you pay with cash it isn't put through the till. Or sometimes apparently isn't properly put through.

Is anybody using Orange broadband at the moment? I have resisted their approaches for ages because it used to be absolutely crap, but apparently they have been using BT servers for the last month or so. I've tried googling reviews but it's always a bit misleading because satisfied customers don't tend to post on forums etc.. Also a lot of the comments are from before they changed servers. I've been offered what seems like a very good deal, and I want to leave AOL, but I don't want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire if Orange are still poor. Also different people at AOL have given me different information about whether or not I can keep my existing AOL email addresses. Grrrrr.

On the other hand .... we bought some sandwiches the other day, ate them on the bus, took the wrappers with us off the bus, and couldn't find a litter bin anywhere - had to carry the wrappers around with us for ages. So I could sort of understand why some people might have been tempted just to chuck them in the gutter.

My fat ball holder holds seven fat balls. I refilled it on Saturday, and by Monday morning there were none left. I'm amazed the sparrows manage to get off the ground, they must be full to bursting :))
