offering to do shopping trips for elderly/people unable to go

It isn't just the person who is wanting help who is potentially at risk, it is the person offering it if they have to go into somebody's house. There is no way whatever to tell what somebody is like from their posts on a forum, as young people who have been groomed on the internet by perverts pretending to be teenagers will attest. I'm beginning to think it is better just to let good neighbourliness take its course without any attempt to formalise it. -
What a frightening experience. Glad you were both OK. There is a post somewhere on the forum about the reindeer in ED, but the Christmas Fair or whatever it was has been and gone now and I was away, so I don't know if it ever happened. There was supposed to be some sort of procession, then Santa's Grotto in the covered market with live reindeer. WL+P, do you think you could put a space between your paragraphs (hit the enter button to do that), your posts are very hard to read? Ta :)

Potential intruder on Blackwater Street?
Sue replied to snatedawg's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Did you call the police? Clearly someone with their hand in your letterbox is not looking for anybody. -

I think Option 1 seems sensible. I don't think having a load of people being temporary coordinators would work. Anybody potentially needing help could be given the names/phone numbers of two nearby people, in case the first wasn't available. However there is still the issue of CRB checking etc.. Apart from anything else it would give peace of mind to the people requiring the help. -

Who is going to coordinate this? Sorry but I have lost track because there is more than one thread. Wasn't there also an issue about CRB checking, which not everybody will have had done? Will there be crossover with other voluntary helpers which needs to be sorted out first? -
Computed and Tony, your posts are very interesting but almost impossible to read because of the mass of text all crammed together. Please don't take this the wrong way, but might it be possible to have more paragraphs and a space between them?

PeckhamRose Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- And a man at > the fitness thingies sat still and witnessed two > robins eat peanuts from my black gloved hand. xxxxxx Brilliant! I'm sure you know this PR, but in case anybody else doesn't, you shouldn't let birds have access to whole peanuts at any time when they may be feeding their young, as young birds can choke on them. In a wire feeder is fine as they can only get a bit out at a time.

East Dulwich Emergency Group --- need help or want to help?
Sue replied to JS33's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm also CRB cleared. -
I've been having the same problem, never happened before the server upgrade (though I've been using a different browser for the last couple of months, but surely Firefox should be OK?) Doesn't happen with any other sites.
-
Thanks Ladymuck, that's the message I've had a few times, and as you say only since the upgrade - does seem to be a problem at the server end rather than at our end then.
-
Eh? I hope that's not a virus (6)

I ventured out today, a bit dizzy and weak but not needing to lie down. Wonder if it is a variant of flu and hit me less hard because I had a flu jab? I usually get these things harder and longer than everyone else, much to my embarrassment when I was working .....

Yeh about to start on the wine :))

Three days sounds better than weeks - though having taken to my bed yesterday I am still bundled up in a duvet on the sofa scarcely able to make a cup of tea (pause for noises of sympathy) :D
-
Well there's Lacon Road, or there's a Macon Court in Crewe according to Google. You could try Southwark Council's website or the Royal Mail postcode finder?
-
OMG! WEEKS?!?!?!NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I've only just got over sinusitis, why do I always get things at bloody CHRISTMAS?!?!?!?!?! When the spinning started yesterday I couldn't even make it downstairs because I felt so dizzy and sick I thought I might fall downstairs :-S

Just got a message again unable to connect to EDF server, and connection timed out. This hasn't happened with any other websites? It reconnected quickly this time, but it's a bit worrying.

Where Were You When You First Heard John Lennon Had Died?
Sue replied to Jah Lush's topic in The Lounge
In bed in South Norwood, about to get up to go to work, heard it on the news :-S Went to work and repeated a sick joke about it and my boss nearly killed me ..... -
I get all my bird food online. Fat balls, peanuts and seed in bulk. Delivered to the door. Only downside is having to store it in mouseproof containers under my kitchen table, as nowhere else to put it

Pandemonium. Jah Lush, :))

Starts off as if you're getting a cold (sore throat for a couple of days, slight runny nose) then sudden onset of dizziness/nausea/having to lie down? I'm hoping it's a bug going round and not some other hideous illness.......
