Why have the references to bomb damage in East Dulwich been removed from this thread, as some of the photos show bomb damage and there was a discussion about it at the official opening yesterday?
-
Did you move into East Dulwich after 1945?

I started a thread about gas and electricity suppliers, because I have just switched back to Eon from British Gas having checked out all the tariffs (though I think the particular tariff I went for may have been withdrawn now) Read here! You have to bear in mind opening offers (eg Amazon vouchers or cash), length of contract and cancellation charges as well as the monthly direct debit.

Looking forward to the grand opening tonight :)
-
But it deffo was one of the best threads of all time :))

I suspect it's easy to grow, prolific cropper, looks good in the box and has good resistance to disease, weather changes, etc etc Flavour not considered crucial. Bit like those massive flowers they breed for size and colour etc but totally lose all the scent.

:) And two minutes later, as well :)

The Co-op have some at the moment called Sweet Eve, not the best I've ever tasted but a zillion times better than Elsanta which was all Sainsbury's had on Friday. The Co-op seem to be expanding their range of different foods, which is good - and the shelves were plentifully stocked this morning.
-
Yes, the clue is in the title of the thread " NEW Co-op store" - ie, the Co-op store on Lordship Lane that used to be Somerfield. And yes they also stock fresh basil.

Have you been in there lately? And they've always sold garlic.

Schonrock kids and unchaperoned "school run"

A child can be sick and choke, wander and fall, try to find their parents, quite apart from being emotionally distressed at calling for their parents and they don't come. What sort of parent knowing those risks (and these were doctors, for God's sake) leaves their children anyway? And not just as a one-off, but night after night? And not just in a familiar room, but in a strange place? It beggars belief. -

Nothing more than a terrible > accident. > xxxxxxxxx A terrible accident? Leaving a three year old alone night after night in an unlocked, dark and unfamiliar apartment with two younger children? And even when by their own admission she had been crying for them the night before she disappeared? Whatever happened, and we may never know, it could have been avoided if the parents hadn't been more concerned with going out to get pissed than looking after their little children, and yes the McCanns should have been prosecuted for abandonment/neglect. -

Thanks James - that iPhone thing sounds great. Only wish I could afford an iPhone :))

Having read all the above, on balance I am glad I decided to go to the free World Music festival in Horniman Gardens yesterday instead :) Great bands, decent food, interesting craft stalls, dance stuff (don't know what that was as it was in the conservatory), kids' activities ......
-
I think in Sarf Lahndon flat caps would have been more of a class thing.
-
I've been to two world music festivals this weekend, one in Victoria Park in Bethnal Green and one in the park next to the Horniman, and at both, they had people going round all afternoon litterpicking. Though it's sad that they had to - why do people think they can just leave their litter for others to pick up?

Apologies for starting a new thread, but I can't find the original one where people were asked their opinions on proposed "art" for the wall near the electricity substation in North Cross Road. Just seen the photos they've put up there of old East Dulwich, I think they're really interesting and appropriate, thanks to whoever has put them up. A zillion times better than those stylised flower things which were originally going to be put up there!

But yeh, must admit, putting on quilt covers is not my favourite thing either .....
