I too think it's a shame to change the name. Why "The Villager", Scott? ED isn't actually a village, though I remember laughing when it was on the cusp (good word!) of change and an estate agent called it "East Dulwich Village". Also, Villager sounds a bit like Cottager, or maybe that's just me :)) Edited to add: Also, it's near Upland Road

Witnesses to large pothole at jnct Nigel Rd & Peckham Rye

Green Goose Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > One councillor in particular (who shall be > nameless) thinks that the council's funds should > instead be spent on such projects as installing > art work on the wall of the sub station in North > Cross Road. > >xxxxxxxxxx That is a really unfair comment. Nobody has suggested using money which would be used to repair potholes to install artwork. I don't much like the suggested art project, but get your facts right. -
What to do about all the dog pooh in Dulwich?
Sue replied to TonyQuinn's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I also think the problem has recently got a lot worse in ED. There is constantly poo in Ulverscroft Road, and people even let their dogs go (and then leave it there) in the middle of the pavement in Lordship Lane. As well as being extremely unpleasant if you tread in it, it is a dangerous health hazard to children, who can go blind I believe due to something which may be in it, whose name I can't remember. I'd be surprised if much of it is due to foxes, though obviously some must be. Thanks for raising the subject, I will also contact the council about it, has anyone raised it on J Barber's thread, I haven't looked at that lately? -
Banging every night around 10pm on Crystal Palace road?

Let us know what happens Will Dex Edited to add: Let's hope it is just a drunk or something similarly harmless -
My daughter has made it quite clear she does not intend to look after me when I'm old :)) ETA: Older ....

Apologies again - as you were :)

Yeh I read this as "polish property", thought maybe it was a cleaner touting for work.

Hey! Joanna Newsom! I actually agree with the critic who said she sounded like a duck, but I'm up for seeing Roy Harper, there's a blast from the past :)) And I'm sure FlapJackDavey will be keen to see JN again. Thanks for the heads up titch. Edited to add: Erm, no, won't be going, just seen the prices - she's upped her game a bit then :-S Edited again to add: We should have got her down to the Goose before, looks like it's too late now, God knows what her fee is if they're charging that much for tix :-S

You're on form tonight Jimmy Two Times :)) What is this Nunhead Forum, I know of the West Dulwich, Camberwell and Forest Hill Forums but not Nunhead? Another place to promote our local gigs perchance (shameless plug for The Goose Is Out! Sorry admin, wash my mouth out).

Whatever it is, I'd rather it didn't sound like it was about to gnaw its way through my floor then burst onto my pillow in the middle of the night in the dark when I'm by myself :)) Thing is, emilydrab, thanks for your positive and supportive post, but I have actually lived in a place with rats, which did indeed gnaw through the floor, and the farmer had to put metal plates down eventually. They also built little stores of food in my kitchen cupboards, eg moving chickpeas into the box of teabags, which in a way was quite endearing but also possibly not something you want to encourage :) Stupid thing is, I did encourage them, they used to swing off the bird peanut feeder (this is absolutely true), I thought they were squirrels until I saw they had rather thin tails for squirrels :-$ I felt like the Pied Piper, I can tell you Edited to correct drunken typos :)

OMG this is karma for being rude to Colin. I thought I had mice. Nice quite small harmless things, occasionally running about a bit, occasional squeak. Last night something large clawed beneath my bed (near my pillow, AAARRGGGHH) for ages, and it didn't go away when I banged on the floor. Twice. It sounded like it was scritchy-scratching and gnawing underneath the carpet and it sounded much bigger than a mouse. I had to turn the light on and sleep all night with the light on. It could have course have been the return of the ghost cat. But it sounded more like a RAT :))

:)) If only this had been last year ..... I shelled out over ten grand, never mind getting a "cash injection", nothing's finished and much of it has got to be redone. Maybe I will investigate, but everything's in limbo at the moment, not sure I can bear putting myself through it all again :)) -
Horsebox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > At work we tend towards 'Doris' for the office > juniors. Probably not a good idea for them to speak out if they don't like it, is it? Not if they value their jobs and/or don't want to be on the receiving end of a load more "good humour" that is "not meant in a derogatory way". Edited to add: And I hope your last post was a joke :))

Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How can you be offended by being called "love". xxxxx Because a certain kind of man uses it to patronise and belittle women he doesn't know. ETA: The same kind of man that calls anyone without a prick darling.

:))Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Had a dead rat in the garden one Saturday morning > couple of years ago. xxxxxx Luxury. I once counted twenty one, of various generations, outside my kitchen window. On a farm, not in ED, I hasten to add. Farmers had to poison them. I used to lie in bed at night listening to them gnawing through the floorboards beneath my bed. Oh happy days. One died in an inaccessible spot beneath my hut aka home. The smell was indescribable for weeks. :))

Did you think I would then, daizie? :) ETA: Find the word menopause offensive, as there's a post in between now. Can't imagine why you would think that. Strange word to choose.

Got no problem with that :))

That was you, mate, can't fool me :))

I think that's also offensive, as I have said previously on the forum. Any other words you'd like my opinion on?

Sorry if you think I've got no sense of humour - too bad.
