  11. cate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What sad news. Why on earth would they fiddle > about with the original? xxxxxxxx Because apparently the new formula means the soap wears away twice as quickly, so people will buy twice as much (except they won't, because it's vile). And almost certainly - it's cheaper for them to produce. But they haven't reduced the price, have they? (6)

  13. cate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Maybe > there are hidden stocks of the old version > about........... xxxxxxx Yes apparently there is someone in Australia, I think :)) who has loads in stock, but people are buying it all up quick. If you're interested, the details are on one of those Facebook pages.
  14. Yeh and on the box it says "Pears is a 200 year old brand." Weasel words. And the soap is now wrapped in a sealed bag inside the box. If it hadn't been, I would have noticed it smelled different and not bought it in the first place (6) because I wouldn't have been able to resist smelling it in the shop :))

  16. There are three Facebook pages devoted to Pears Soap, saving Pears Soap and slagging off Unilever for changing the formula of Pears Soap. They have now changed it again but it's still not back to the original, though apparently they've now removed many of the chemicals they added. Sadly the two I bought at my last Sainsbury's shop are the baddies. (6)
  17. Great.
  18. katie1997 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > PS. Not tried it but the fabulous Levi Roots has > this version Caribbean Guinness Punch xxxxxxx OMG this mixes Guinness with both evaporated milk and condensed milk. WTF????
  19. katie1997 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If you must mix Guinness - the only thing is > champagne, sweetie. Black Velvet. > xxxxxxxxx Yeh but she wants punch, innit. Anyway, Black Velvet is a terrible waste of both the Guinness and the champagne :))
  20. The original listed ingredients are: Sodium Palmitate, Natural Rosin, Glycerine, Water, Sodium Cocoate, Rosemary Extract, Thyme Extract, Pears Fragrance Essence. The listed ingredients of the new soap are: Sorbitol, Aqua, Sodium Palmate/stearate, Sodium Palmkernelate, Sodium Rosinate, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, PEG-4, Alcohol, Glycerin, Perfume, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Meta Bisulfite, Etidronic acid, Tetra Sodium EDTA, BHT, Cl 12490, Cl 47005, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Cinnamal, Eugenol, Limonene, Linalool. This is terrible! It smells of coal tar, which brings back hideous childhood memories (6) involving Wrights Coal Tar Soap, Vosene and Loxene, instead of pleasant Pears Soap memories! And it makes me itch (6)
