It was how they remembered him, if you look at the website which the link above goes to. Here's an extract: Andrew's parents, Glenys and Kevin, sent their own message to Andrew: "We have all missed you so much since the day you left. You were always so witty, polite, caring and intelligent that we desperately miss your company." If you don't think it strange that the second characteristic parents would choose to describe their fourteen year old son in a message to him asking him to come home is "polite", then fair enough. Personally I find it quite bizarre, but each to their own - and clearly they love him a lot.

I can't imagine what it must be like to have a child leave home in this way, but I do wonder that the second word his parents use to describe him (after "witty") is "polite". :-S

The first is not as early as six, hence I presume the empty tables. But obviously they need to keep tables for people who have booked for when they do arrive! Ganapati is very popular and it would be unusual if they had a free unbooked table, so you were lucky if you got one. Their prices and menu are on their website, so the cost need not come as a surprise. They are not as cheap as the Indian restaurants in Lordship Lane, but they are in a totally different league foodwise, and I think are excellent value for money. I am surprised you talked about an "obnoxious" waitress - we have always had excellent and friendly service at Ganapati.

Have never had a bad meal at the Hisar, and the service is good too. They do a set meal - you can choose meat, fish or veggy based - which is extraordinarily good value, large range of cold starters, hot starters, main dishes ..... we were full after the cold starters but if I remember right they gave us doggy bags :))

Ganapati change their menus regularly, but if there's something you particularly like from a previous menu I think they would try to do it for you, assuming they had the ingredients in :) They do do other things on leaves - eg an amazing crab starter .... yum :)

Agree with Loz, and Sema Thai is pretty awful as well.

Somebody opened a card and letter I had sent (not addressed to them), and phoned me to tell me a friend had died. The person who opened the card was the new owner of my friend's house. Although obviously I was sad to get the news, I was grateful to the person for opening the card and then taking the trouble to phone me.
