  1. Yeh I'm not terribly clear why it wasn't sorted at the time. I assumed shock :)
  2. Well done to you for owning up to it and taking responsibility, hope you find him and sort it all out
  3. OK thanks. Shall add to my very long list of things to do writing to Sainsbury's to enquire why they are not locking it at night when there is no lighting in the park. I actually think the park is quite well maintained, and I'm a Green Flag judge, however must admit usually have other things on my mind when walking through it than Green Flag criteria .....

  5. Yeh much easier just to get on the 37 in ED and get off in CJ rather than messing about with trains, unless you happen to live near Denmark Hill Station and know all the train times. And yeh, around half an hour depending on traffic, roadworks etc..
  6. According to the sign at the gate, this park is supposed to be locked at dusk. But it isn't. Given that it isn't, shouldn't it be lit? Does anybody know who is responsible for it? Is it Sainsbury's, or the council?
  7. You could phone the school and let them know you have the bag? Might put someone's mind at rest?
  8. No, if you're addressing that to me you misunderstand me, I meant that the problem was unlikely to be due to the person being deaf as that would just result in the music being loud, not in the swearing and shouting as well. Edited to add: But in the case of my noisy neighbour, he was/is mentally ill - which doesn't mean to say that the person in Tyrell Road is,
  9. OMG that youtube clip wasn't even so bad it was good, it was so bad it was awful. Now I need a nice cup of tea to recover :))
  10. Same with my daughter - no side-effects at all.
  11. The screaming and shouting may be a bit of a giveaway, though, no? In our case as well as music you could hear from the end of the street, the guy also shouted, including many choice swear words, and kept his windows open all year round including in the bitter cold.
  12. Should have added, in my case, it took a very persistent campaign by four sets of neighbours (including me) to both the council noise people and the housing association the guy was a tenant of before anything was done, and in the case of the housing association everybody we spoke to or emailed kept passing the buck, but eventually we succeeded. That was also a mental health issue and we were all also scared to approach him because in addition he appeared potentially violent. Also, the one time (Christmas Eve, four in the morning) it all got too much for me and I went to complain in person, he couldn't hear the doorbell because of the noise.

  14. Been quite ill. Still ill. NHS Direct reckoned the side effects of the jab should not last for more than two days, and be less severe than the actual swine flu, however have heard of two people who were ill for a week. Have hardly noticed the sore arm. Have however had a temperature (over 100), been very nauseous, dizzy, dry cough, headache, aches and pains, blah blah. Too tired to do much - mainly sleep with breaks to type/read. At least no runny nose! NHS Direct said it was likely that by coincidence I have another viral infection which happened to start after my jab ...
  15. Yes you definitely need to call them every time, however much of a pain it is. You also need to keep your own record of when you called and who you spoke to. In my experience (admittedly some years back) they will only record your call if they manage to come out within their target time, and if they can't, or don't come out at all, your call will be quietly "lost".

  17. HDNL left a card on Saturday evening, when I was out, for a parcel from Amazon, and I rearranged delivery for today. I've been in all day and it never turned up. I phoned them at 9.45pm (hanging on at 10p a minute) and they said the driver was "still out" because of "Christmas". At 10.15pm however according to the Amazon tracking system, my parcel was returned to base. Now what am I supposed to do? Keep rearranging the date and staying in and hoping at some point HDNL will actually deliver it when they say they will? I'd much rather get a card from Royal Mail and collect the parcel from Sylvester Road. I've just complained to Amazon. So much for their new contract - HDNL are clearly taking on more work than they can cope with.
  18. Sorry you can't do that :)

  20. Am I dreaming, or didn't there used to be plastic poaching rings to keep poached eggs apart from each other? And yes, the eggs have to be fresh or they go all frilly and stringy in the water.

    Cooking Steak

I use a separate non-stick grill thing that's supposed to be for paninis etc.. It does loads of other stuff brilliantly, including steak!
  22. Pick it up from the "depot"? Are you sure this was Royal Mail?

Blimey! You could make a fortune in market research :))
