Racist graffiti at The Hamlet, man sought by Police
Sue replied to AnotherPaul's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
??? Where did you see the handwriting and black marker? It's been masked in the material the police have publicised. -
Years ago, I used to get loads of starlings in my garden, until one day one was carried off - in great and noisy distress - by a bird of prey. I realised what was happening too late to do anything about it, though not sure what I could have done anyway. After that, not a single starling came back to the garden. Ever. I get loads of sparrows now. So I hope this bird doesn't get one of "my" sparrows and all the other sparrows disappear, as I'm only round the corner from Crawthew Road 😢

I'm so pleased! -
You've lost me, Malumbu! Is it some song I should know?! I'm in Ulverscroft Road, so it could very likely be the same kids. Thanks!
-
Oh dear.
-
Ah. Kicking. Yes, that could account for the very loud noise
-
The banging sounded too loud to be kids, unless they were very strong with big hands!
-
What section are they advertising in? I haven't seen any adverts or posts from them? They recently sent me another email asking me to review them, so I can only assume they didn't read my first email 🙄 The actual checkup was ok, it was quick, they took x rays. I presume they didn't find anything wrong. They didn't suggest I saw a hygienist, so my gums etc must be ok.

No, I was sitting on my sofa right at the front of the house, with the living room lights on! Yes, but they didn't wait for me to open the door, so I don't know how they could realise they were at the wrong address. It was a massive banging, it wasn't a "here's your food" type of banging! Yes, that seems the most probable thing, which is why I wondered if it had happened to anybody else, and if not why they picked on me 🤣😭 It was quite disconcerting, and it caused my neighbours to check all over their house as well for any signs of what had caused the massive noise. If it happens again I would have to assume it wasn't random, and that would be a bit worrying as to the best of my knowledge I haven't upset anybody!

Has anybody else had someone bang extremely loudly on their front door and then disappear? About 8pm tonight. I didn't open the door, but I called out "Who is it?" twice, then looked out of the window but there was no sign of anyone either on foot or in a car, so I think it may have been someone on a bike. My neighbours heard it as well and didn't know what the very loud noise was. I'm just wondering if this was a random occurrence or if it has happened to anyone else, and if so whether it's just somebody being annoying or whether they have some criminal intent.

Thanks, it's not very dirty, it just needs freshening up really. It's been on the sofa for more than thirty years , as I bought the sofa shortly after I moved here 🤣 But the sofa has large seat cushions (whose covers wash easily) and it's had throws over it for much of its life. It's massive. It is in two halves, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get it in the house 🤣 but the cover covers both halves, so you can't see the join. Oh dear, all I asked about was a launderette, I burble on as badly online as I do offline 🤣

Whereabouts in Bellenden Road is it? Though I settled for a very thorough going over with the upholstery attachment on my Dyson in the end 🤣

My Acanthus mollis is eaten to the ground, apart from the flower spikes. I have just left them to it, on the basis that if they are eating this they aren't eating anything else. Anyway, pigeons have trampled over most of my plants 😭 leaving an expanse of bare earth beneath the bird feeders. I don't use slug pellets any more. I did mean to try beer traps, but I kept forgetting. I hope the frogs will eat the slugs, but the slugs seem to be winning. The attached pic of a slug hospital made me laugh a lot 😂 I don't know the poster, it was shared by someone else.

Many years ago I was looking round some stately home or other, and there was a mounted horse's head (if memory serves, on one side of a fireplace) and its tail mounted on the other side. I made some comment about this horse to my then partner, upon which someone behind me with a fraightfully posh voice said "That's not a horse! That's the Duke of Wellington's charger!" 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for that picture of the headlines. That was the one I referred to above, but I couldn't find it. Disgraceful, aren't they.

Shingo at Kuki in Bellenden Road is absolutely brilliant. I've been going there for years I have only ever had Shingo, who owns the salon, but I believe the others there are also very good. The prices are the same whoever you have. Https://kukihair.com I have very thin and fine hair, and in the past, whenever I've found a good cutter, they have moved on and it took me ages to find someone else. I can't recommend Shingo highly enough. But usually you have to wait some time for an appointment as he gets booked up very quickly (not over the summer though as people are away). Prices have gone up recently, so it may still be more than you want to pay, but the length of time between cuts will depend on the style. I've recently had a quite short bob which is going to mean cuts every couple of months. -
Very silly question, sorry, but have you looked at reviews on places like Trust Pilot and Google?
-
Yes. And many other weird measures 😂 I still remember 1,760 yards in a mile. And 2,240 something or other 😂
-
I just had a look at its reviews. It's strange that it seems to be so inconsistent, with some (most) people raving about the excellent food and service, and others saying the food is awful/tastes of nothing and the service is terrible. Wondering: Is it due to different chefs/waiting staff/duty managers at different times? Is it due to some people having very low expectations/little experience of Chinese food, and therefore thinking rubbish food is very good? Is it due to some people having very high expectations/wide experience of Chinese food and therefore thinking run of the mill or mediocre food is dreadful? Is it because some of the reviews aren't genuine? I'm almost tempted to go and try it for myself, but I think that's probably a very bad idea 🤣
-
Thanks all. I was hoping for somewhere a bit nearer. Now wondering if I can get away with not washing it 🤣
-
Is there still a launderette locally which has a large capacity machine? I need to wash a very large sofa cover.
