  1. The Foxtons hoardings (?) have gone from the space between the Hospice charity shop and what used to be Boss Man (can't remember its new improved name). Does anybody know what if anything is taking over the space?
  2. But why would the council want to do that? I genuinely can't see that that would be the reason, unless there are some shenanigans I'm not aware of.
  3. Great, thank you both!
  4. I know this has been raised before, but I can only find quite old threads. Are there any charity shops, preferably in ED or on an easy bus route, which take small electrical items?
  5. Definitely report it to Lidl Head Office, whatever other action you take. You could also try asking for witnesses on other online local forums. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour from anybody, let alone a shop manager.
  6. If they don't collect the newspaper, they could at least leave it in the bin, or put it back, not just dump it on the pavement 🙄
  7. Admin has explained above why the photo cannot be posted on here.
  8. Yes, exactly. It wasn't dark when we got locked in the cemetery. I think it was quite early evening. I can't remember what time it closed. Obviously we should have checked, but I don't think it crossed our minds at the time.
  9. Surely the fire brigade could have got keys from the gatekeeper? That doesn't seem like a great arrangement, particularly if the fire brigade were out at more urgent events? Fires, for example.
  10. So your binmen took the newspaper away with the food waste?
  11. My partner and I once got locked into Nunhead Cemetery. They have a notice at the gate (I assume at all the entrances) which gives a phone number to ring if you are locked in. We had to wait a while, during which time we at least caused some amusement to passers by. Apparently being locked in is not a particularly rare occurrence. Does Dulwich Park not have some similar arrangement?
  12. What do people use to contain food in the outdoor size food bin? I don't have a great deal of food waste, as I compost most of it. I had some Joseph Joseph bags (which fit my indoor bin) and some of the council green bags, but I find these bags split very easily. I tried lining the bin with newspaper (which is biodegradable) but the binmen just left the newspaper lying on the pavement after they had emptied the bin 😭 The bin gets very dirty if (or more likely when) the bags split, and I don't want to have to keep washing it.
  13. The original post on nextdoor (posted by the young woman's mother) has been deleted, along with the comments, which I assume (but have no idea) may have been for legal reasons. I haven't seen any update. I read that two doctors who were nearby helped initially, along with another passer by. Obviously, as with many things posted online, I have no way of telling what is true and what isn't, but yes, leaping to the conclusion that the accident was due to dangerous driving seems somewhat premature, unless there was evidence of that.
  14. Yes, of course setting up a new business is tough. I haven't seen anything on here which suggests anybody is "trying to rip his legs out from under him". I sincerely hope that I am proved wrong about the unsuitability of his location for a lone street food stall, and that he can also make a good living from catering for parties etc. My nitpicking comment was a joke, in case it wasn't obvious 🙄
  15. I think he's going to have problems with this location, though I wish him well and I hope I'm wrong, but it seemed to be a bad location for the beer dispensary. There's very little passing trade, there's hardly anywhere to park if you wanted to pick up something in a car and take it home, and it's quite a long way to walk from the main part of East Dulwich.
  16. A door key with a distinctive key chain has just been found in Hansler Road and handed in to Dell Autos. If this is yours, please phone them on 0208 693 4573 with a description of the key and the chain.
  17. Our local delivery office must be absolutely inundated with complaints at the moment. But both of your non-deliveries are appalling. Have you complained to anyone apart from Royal Mail, eg the MP?
  18. It does seem quite a lot for something from a stall. Are there still seats outside what was the Beer Dispensary to eat it at? It looks good though. I hope his cooking is better than his spelling (ocassions ?!) 🤣 Why don't people get someone who can spell to check over things before they get them printed? I know it's not important in the great scheme of things, but it offends my nitpicking aka attention to detail side 🤣
  19. The original post on nextdoor from the injured person's mother has been deleted, but it said that the car driver stopped to let her daughter cross on the crossing, but then drove into her while she was on the crossing and knocked her down. It isn't clear why, or whether it was deliberate. Apparently the car driver did then stop. As they are asking for witnesses, shouldn't march46's post above be in a more prominent part of the forum? Not many people are likely to see it here? I only noticed it by chance.
  20. John Mayall. R.I.P. https://www.theguardian.com/music/article/2024/jul/23/john-mayall-blues-dies?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other
  21. Malumbu, apparently all ex presidents are referred to as "president". American presidents, that is. Who knows why. Seems somewhat confusing.
  22. Royal Mail are claiming to have delivered two tracked packages to me yesterday. Both were eBay orders (from different people). I haven't had either of them. There is a GPS map associated with one, showing the vicinity of my house, but neither of my neighbours has the package and there is nothing behind any pots etc at the front of my house. The other one just says "delivery recorded", with no further information. I was out, and I have spent far too long today on two phone calls to Royal Mail, in the first of which I was given completely wrong information about the process, and now find if the packages don't turn up after 72 hours, the sender/s have to refund me and also make a complaint to Royal Mail. I'm sure they will be delighted. Meanwhile, I don't have items which I needed for this coming Saturday. Nothing of any monetary value, but I can't get them locally, so very annoying indeed. Has anybody else had similar instances lately? Judging by the time I had to wait both times I phoned, Royal Mail must be inundated with complaints at the moment. The first time, I was told things could have been affected by the Microsoft outage, but surely in that case there would have been no information available at all about the packages, not two separate statements that they had been "delivered" ? ETA: I've just had to make a THIRD call to Royal Mail because I only got email confirmation of one of the supposedly delivered packages. It turns out that only one of them was reported to the delivery office yesterday. FFS. How many hours do I have to spend on this because of so many people's incompetence? Now a day has been missed in the timescale of their "process", plus obviously the two items should have been dealt with at the same time, because they were in the same delivery, so presumably are with the same (wrong) person or in the same (wrong) place. ETA (again): Both of these packages have just arrived (Wednesday morning). The lovely postie said he couldn't get them through the door on Monday, but couldn't explain why the tracking info said they had both been delivered on Monday. Oh well, at least I've got them now!
  23. What, wherever you go, on the off chance you might be attacked by a second-rate raven?!
  24. Eh? How would you like to have your head clawed at by large birds whilst just walking along?!
  25. I don't remember La Careme at all! But I'm not sure we ever went anywhere other than the Dulwich Tandoori 😂 I can't remember how we got there, I think one of my friends must have driven. I was living in South Norwood at that time, but I don't recall thinking East Dulwich was particularly posh. Though it probably was compared to South Norwood 😂 It certainly didn't seem at all posh when I moved here over thirty years ago. I remember having to explain to people that it wasn't actually Dulwich Village .....
