  3. "Leveraging". Eh? And "Cover off". AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH.
  4. Goodbye - Peter Cook and Dudley Moore
  5. People have been murdered because neighbours heard screaming and didn't bother to call the police, or go and find out what was happening. Not sure whether it's apathy or fear of embarrassment if it does turn out to be foxes or something. Either way it's unfortunate.
  6. There's quite a few Gingkos around ED, some in Ulverscroft Road for example :)
  7. Can we have two completely separate drinks, one for those who want to bring kids and one for those who don't? And the one for those who don't on a Friday? There was hardly anyone there last night (though great conversation) and people tend to have other things going on on a Saturday night.
  8. Fairy Tale of New York - The Pogues
  9. Hello from Sue and FlapJackDavey aka Nyge - great to meet you too Hal9000 :) Can I make a plea for a return to Friday - great idea to have a separate parents/kids meetup but can we keep it separate?? Smallest number of forumites I've ever seen at a drinks night but maybe you were all there in the afternoon??? :)-D
  10. Back in the day Macey's would get anything in for you which they didn't have in stock - Lloyds won't. I needed a strap thing for tennis elbow which King's couldn't supply but said I could get from a pharmacist. Lloyds just told me they couldn't order it. But I still go there because it's convenient, I've found the staff OK, I don't like the Co-op and I don't like that pharmacy at the Goose Green end of LL - the only time I went in there they were just plain rude.

  12. chica1 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How about a travel agency? It would be nice to be > able to talk f2f with someone for > advice/comments/etc. > xxxxxxxxxx There used to be a travel agency in Lordship Lane, and it closed down. There is still one at the ED end of the main shopping street in Peckham (can't remember its name, Rye Lane?) on the right hand side coming from ED. At least, I think it's still there. I'm amazed how any of them stay open these days of the internet.
  13. Bossman, despite its appalling name - for a great range of real ales, and yes, Stella at a fiver for six - the Greek deli also does it, but further for me to carry it home :)) Edited to change it's to its - OMG I'm slipping, how did that happen :))
  14. Cassius Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How long does it last - this is my third day of > cramping and slight fever? xxxxxxx Seems to be very variable in both intensity and duration. Don't understand those who can't see the point of this thread - I thought I had food poisoning when it started, then I thought I might have something else wrong with my eyes. It was comforting to find that other people had the same symptoms and it was all part of the bug. If you don't want to read the thread - erm, then don't. Same as I don't read the threads on the forum which are of no interest to me :) I don't post on them making rude remarks about why the thread is there and the characteristics of the people posting :) The forum would be pretty clogged up if everyone did that, innit :))

  17. Hey get well soon. I had to miss my first Goose gig ever on Friday night, but sod's law by Saturday I was fine. Seems to have hit everybody a bit differently, my daughter reckons she only had it for an hour :))
  18. I like the Palmerston as a pub, but I've also queried my change a few times because of the prices. I've eaten there three times, and each time there was a vague disappointment about the food given the prices charged. It was OK but somehow could have been better. But their weekday lunches are good value I think.
  19. Just as a comparison - I ate at the Mag yesterday. Obviously a different type of meal, but the green salad consisted of many different kinds of small, very delicious green leaves, with an excellent dressing. Not a large pile of huge undressed oak leaf lettuce leaves taking up much of the plate. And the juice bar is next to and (I think) run by a greengrocer!
  20. Lola - The Kinks
  21. Oh no, just heard I gave it to granddaughter 1, causing her mum and dad to have to spend two days reading endless books to her and watching reruns of Charlie and Lola :-$
  22. I guess a read of this forum will tell you that :) Everything you ever wanted to know and more :)
  23. Didn't take them as scaremongering myself, no probs :)
  24. Didn't take them as scaremongering myself, no probs :)
  25. No definitely not dengue fever, my ex had that in Malaysia following a dodgy mosquito net in some vile hotel in a city in Sumatra (country dropping) whose name escapes me but where I never want to go again, grammar, and was very much iller than this! I'm not worried about any of it, just interested to know whether anybody had had the sore eyes as part of the other bug. But thanks all :)
