  1. No definitely not dengue fever, my ex had that in Malaysia following a dodgy mosquito net in some vile hotel in a city in Sumatra (country dropping) whose name escapes me but where I never want to go again, grammar, and was very much iller than this! I'm not worried about any of it, just interested to know whether anybody had had the sore eyes as part of the other bug. But thanks all :)

  7. Starts with stomach cramps, then feeling very sick. OK could have handled that. Thought it was something I'd eaten till I heard from a work colleague it was a thing going round. But very sore eyes?? Headache? Is this part of the same bug or just some horrible coincidence? May have to miss my first Goose gig ever :-S:-$

They were old fashioned grocer type shops selling cheese, ham etc cut at the counter. If my ailing memory is correct. I never knew the one in ED but I do remember them in Streatham, don't know if they were just a Sarf Lahndon thing or national. Anyway, I could never understand why Thistels wasn't called Thistles, particularly as it had pix of thistles around (and presumably Le Chardon still does ..... )

  15. Well I think they may have got the picture when I asked for some avocado and then went wandering round the room looking for some dressing. It wasn't very busy, it was in the afternoon. Maybe they're reading this thread as I type!
  16. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sue, what did you think of your salad? xxxxxxx I think I already answered that in the original post at the start of the thread? I thought it was a very strange mix of ingredients, only they weren't mixed and they were all in separate piles on the plate. I thought olives and crab made strange bedfellows, especially when the olives were in separate bowls with stones still in. And why both green and black olives? I thought it was odd to have both cherry tomatoes and sundried tomatoes, and I didn't think the sundried tomatoes were great with crab, either. I thought they should have remembered to bring the dressing - and to include the avocado in a "crab and avocado salad". As I already said, the crab was excellent. However taken as a whole, I thought the salad was not a success, not worth the money and I wouldn't have it again. But willing to give them another chance as the coffee and juice were both good and my OH enjoyed his meal.
  17. cate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It was unusual being asked what I wanted in my > salad but delightful. Hope it > happens every time! xxxxxxxx Er, no, it doesn't. As posted above, I got a huge heap of identical lettuce leaves, a smaller heap of cherry tomatoes, some grated carrot in a little pile, another separate heap of sun dried tomatoes, a bowl of green olives with stones in, a bowl of black olives with stones in, and no dressing either on or off the salad. On asking where the avocado was (in a crab and avocado salad) I then received a few slices of rather unripe avocado. The crab was delicious, in contrast to the somewhat Liver in Lager (as in Life is Sweet) feel of the rest of the plate. Had they asked me how I wanted the salad, I should certainly have asked for crab and avocado (it being a crab and avocado salad), passed on the olives and the sun dried tomatoes (I love them, but not with crab) and suggested they mix the components of the rest of the salad up and provide some dressing :) But hey, each to their own, I will order something else next time :))

Prices at charity shops have got higher and higher and in some cases you can buy items new cheaper than from certain charity shops. They are certainly no longer a cheap option for people with very little money.
  19. Wish I'd been asked what I wanted in my salad :)
