  1. Sorry admin not sure which section to post this in, or indeed what to call the thread. We've become aware that there are people who would like to go to Goose gigs but who are not too keen to go by themselves. I can really sympathise as I used to be in the same position when wanting to go to music events but having noone to go with. We'd like to try to help so if you mention at the door that you're by yourself, we'll try to introduce you to others who have also come alone. We'll do our best not to make this too obvious or cause you any embarrassment! Alternatively, if you PM me or contact me via the Goose website (see below) before the gig you want to come to, I'll try to put you in touch with others beforehand, so you can make arrangements to meet. Would also mean that you get to meet people with the same musical interests as yourself!
  2. I have also known people hang a bike on the wall, on special hooks, because there was no room to store it elsewhere.
  3. Yes I do, but I remember when Grace and Favour was either a Greek deli or a newsagents, can't remember which :)) Wasn't called Grace and Favour then, obviously.

Or sell it on the internet? Going door to door is hardly a time-effective way of targeting your market, is it, unless it was something relevant to the area eg a history of East Dulwich, and even then many people probably wouldn't be interested? She came to my door and asked me if I was a reader - erm, well, yes I read books, but not books bought at random from someone at the door - which could be anything! She also asked me about the posts on this forum, I really couldn't remember what had been said, why didn't she look for herself? I think the whole thing is a bit strange.
  5. Sadly not, that would have been quite an exotic thing to have round the corner :)

But they're still > in business... the bastards. xxxxxxx I used to run events for single people, and we had monthly meet-ups in a Wetherspoons precisely because they didn't have music, hence we could hear each other speak. Plus at the time they had large no-smoking areas when almost every other pub in London was full of smoke. Also they have a range of decent real ales, the wine isn't worse than most other pub wines and their prices are low. Their food isn't great but it's cheap and edible. And some of their pubs are based in quite interesting old buildings. And the loos of the one we met in (Penderel's Oak in High Holburn) were in the Good Loo guide :)) I think Wetherspoons deserve to still be in business, myself!

He's found a mate! xxxxx Hey, I love jays! I'm embarrassed to admit that I have an empty feeder hanging up in the garden. I used to buy peanuts in bulk from eBay, but the supplier I used doesn't do them any more, I couldn't find anywhere else that was so cheap and I'm not rolling in money at the moment (or ever in fact :)) ). Also I had a mouse and although I keep the peanuts in a closed plastic container the sack when it's full won't all fit in it, and I've got limited storage space. However, in my defence, I have an urban jungle of a (very small) garden which has birds nesting in it each year (blackbirds and bluetits usually) and I do garden for wildlife with shrubs with berries etc.. I tried putting up a feeder with nigella seed to try and attract goldfinches, but so far as I know it didn't, thought something ate the seed!!!

There seems to be an awful lot of incompetence and bad management in Somerfield though.

  12. Agree with what people have said, I don't find it a warm or welcoming place to sit as it is at present and a change in the decor and tables would definitely help.
  13. Hey, has anyone ever seen long-tailed tits in ED, they're my favourites. Used to see a lot of them when I lived in Oundle, they used to come down to my bird feeders, but my garden was backing on to a little wood. Would love to see them here.

Of course it's always particularly upsetting when people die relatively young, but there isn't a particular time you're supposed to die surely, unless you subscribe to the three score years and ten theory? I didn't know Meryem but I'm so sorry for her family, and the family of the other young woman cyclist who died recently.

Yes you definitely can to the Thai Corner Cafe - they charge corkage but it's not a high charge. > >
