One of my sisters met her partner through Guardian Soulmates (paper not website) and they've been together for years. I met some really nice men through internet dating including one I was with for over a year. However the advantage of meeting people in real life is that you can tell if you fancy them - you can get a quite wrong impression via emails. So I would say it's better to meet up quickly rather than carry on lengthy email/phone conversations when you build up a picture of someone which might be quite wrong. Also, it appeared that nearly everyone except me was lying about their age - what's the point?? Just made me wonder what else they were lying about :-S

I think it's a great idea but you have to be picky what sites you use, LoveandFriends and Guardian Soulmates are good. But though I met some lovely men (and some not) I met my OH at a party :))

I'm 60 in July, and what the f*** does "acting your age" mean? I'm 59 so consequently I'm acting my age! Whatever age you are, you're obviously acting it - by definition. Do you mean, act how somebody else thinks you should act? So one minute you're 29 (or 39 or whatever) and you act one way, then you wake up the next morning and you're expected to act another way? What a load of b*l*o**s :))

I have > to say I have never been tempted to go in there > since hearing the tale. xxxxxxx The Uplands used to be a very rough pub some years ago, and there were frequently fights etc - it isn't any more. I find the people in there very friendly, staff and punters, I just wouldn't go there again to eat. Daizie, I think referring to people as "chavs" is unpleasant and says more about you than about them, just my opinion.

Be warned, peeps. -
wyrdharley Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "talking buses" or talking "TALKING ABOUT > BUSES"....... PLEASE CLEAR THIS ONE UP... xxx Well I hardly think the 185 has joined the ranks of "talking about buses", that would be a bit bizarre, wouldn't it? Hey, mate, that 176 is a bit out of order, innit, and what about that 40, I dunno ... :))

Don't make the mistake I did of telling your insurance company as soon as you get a few hairline cracks, ending up with a load of work which was probably unnecessary (but hey, made a load of dosh for a load of people and enabled said insurance company to bump up my premiums considerably), and rendering yourself uninsurable by many companies because as soon as you say "yes" to the subsidence question they don't want to know. Sorry for ungrammatical tangle, no I haven't been on the ale, perish the thought :)) Edited to say: Bob, sorry, *Bob*, I think you can have subsidence without being underpinned. Mine hasn't been underpinned but all the correspondence from the insurance guys refers to subsidence. -

Applespider Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I find the fact that the 185 has joined the rank > of talking buses far more irritating than a driver > who I've never noticed - so I'm guessing that he > can't terrorise everyone. xxxxxx I love talking buses - if I don't know the area, they mean I don't have to peer out of the window all the time wondering whether I've missed my stop. And when it's dark and wet or foggy, as it was recently, it also means I dont miss the stop I get off at every day because I can't see where I am. Or if I'm immersed in my book, the talking bus tells me I've reached my stop. And if I couldn't see, I guess I'd love talking buses even more. Hoorah for talking buses, that's what I say :)) :)-D

I have skimmed through the previous thread on this subject, and I can't see a contact number or link to Mr Rose who seems to be the one who was dealing with it - does anybody have this info? I am happy to chase to find out what is happening, but I don't have time at the moment to seek out the contact details.
